I like the engine. GT350 and LFA and exotics from Europe (Ferrari, Lambo, etc). The NA, 8600rpms and sound will sell this out.
I'm not a fan of the exterior styling, but the interior looks great on the C8, and they did a great job overall of really raising the bar for themselves and the industry, so hats off to Chevy, even if this wouldn't ever be on my buy list regardless of if it was ever a financial possibility. I can't wait to hear it on the road.

Just wow. I wonder what that motor does to the price of the car. My guess for a base (1LT) Z06 MSRP,,,, $100-110K. If I was rich I'd get one.

Dry weight means nothing. Unless you like looking at a nonfunctional, parked vehicle

They will want to undercut the 911. For, $100-110k someone could get a 2 or 4 or spend a little more and get a 2S. The 2S might have less power on paper than the Z06, but it has an underrated powertrain and fast enough for most buyers who want the Porsche badge and German engineering. Plus, the turbos offer tuning potential making for Turbo+ performance if someone wanted. The Corvette might be the poor man's Ferrari, but it shouldn't be competing with a GT3 for prices, so I think it will definitely undercut the standard 911 and far undercut the GT3. After all, the target demographic is middle to late aged white Americans with a bear belly, a Hawaiian shirt, jean shorts and flip-flops; they can't go too far up market. My hats off to GM. I'm not a fan of the exterior, but the interior doesn't scream American as much. It isn't a Ferrari, yet it sounds close enough, and it is a quality interior, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these over double or triple the money on a Ferrari if I had that type of money, having been in Ferraris.

It needs a turbo!
0-60 in 2.5s Seriously though, going na was the right decision. If people modify it after so they can have 2000 horsepower and drag race a Tesla Plaid, they will ruin a good car. So, this is an American supercar. Good thing they changed the back and front as well. It needed to be somewhat bespoke to compete for the Ferrari owner's money. The cost with every available piece of carbon fibre, aero and Z07 packages is up there but I suppose if every one was produced that way they wouldn't produce enough to meet their scaling. It's always nice to see one 100% optioned.

An extremely impressive car and engine. I still don’t like the styling all that much, but credit where due, this is an amazing supercar bargain compared to the Euro supercars.
Its a shame the Vette is utterly irrelevant downunder. We were supposed to get the standard C8 Stingray here in factory RHD but it keeps getting delayed - it can’t be a high priority for GM when the demand is so high in North America. A shame, although I can’t afford one I’d love to see them on our roads. |
