You can easily overfill by half a quart and be fine. I am not sure what the threshold is before you start causing issues, but it is more then a half a quart. I know a few guys whose standard practice is to over fill. The crank is pretty high above the oil pan and the upper oil pan assembly is pretty large, there is also a windage shield so it’s not like it could froth a whole lot of it. At worst it will push out some through the PCV system.

Yeah looks a bit overfilled, probably by about a quart. If you had a valve you could let some out. You could try pumping some out through the dipstick tube if you are concerned.

The thing is, I've been dealing with this ticking thing and it's only started sometime in the past two weeks (so after the maintenance was done).

https://youtube.com/shorts/piesQeL8P...NJJ2hOdGxQ_Pcd

Sorry not sure why the YouTube app insists on uploading as a short.

You may need headphones. But that ticking has started sometime since this maintenance.

Obviously causation != correlation but now that I'm dealing with that, it makes me concerned knowing the oil is overfilled like that.

A neighbor of mine has older BMWs and works on them. Fortunately he has one of those dipstick tube pumps, so he's going to help me out tomorrow with that.

Sounds like an idler pulley or the idler tensioner. When mine started to go it was a sporadic noise that eventually developed into steady noise. Still hard to tell, just a guess.

I made the mistake of checking rockauto AFTER I already ordered parts. They really have the best price on "normal" non-oem repair parts like rotors.

They don't repair or otherwise maintain cars in the former Soviet Union and/or non-aligned countries?

You're autocrossing a sports car. In former Soviet Union, car maintains you.

I've watched the videos, more like in the Soviet Union, car is out to end you.
