Apparently its impossible for them to just transfer over the WRX concept car to the production one.....that one looked AWESOME. The production version (judging by the photos only) isnt as appealing as I thought.
The eventual next step from my BRZ was potentially this car...now? not sure... |

We'll just have to see when it comes out. I bet that folks like kartboy will come up with a rod connection kit for it if the cable setup is that mushy.

Here's a pic of a legacy cable tranny. There are two cables, both on the side of the tranny. I'm not sure how hard it would be to disconnect the cables on the tranny side, but I don't see anyone coming up with mechanical linkage for those. |

I am really not liking what I am seeing, but it could look much better in person and when we get better pics.

I don't like it. But it looks better than the '08 WRX.

Just watched Subaru Introducing Levorg @Tokyo autoshow.
One seriously hot looking wagon. WRX sedan is dead to me. I want that wagon. |

I'm personally disappointed with both the looks and the technical aspect. This was Subaru's chance to introduce a truly game changing sport-sedan, and a good platform for the STI, since the Evo is gone.
Failed in the looks and quality (I know, looks and quality interior was never what Subaru or the WRX was about), but this was their chance to change that, and that concept looked exactly what they needed. Failed at technical, by trying to make the WRX a little more mainstream (CVT option, really?) and trying to introduce a more "efficient" engine, which is code word for better MPG while keeping same performance. This was their chance to introduce better performance, period. This is how Honda started their decline in the sport/enthusiast sector few years ago, by trying to move slowly their platforms to more mainstream for better sales figures, even though they had already mainstream platforms, that wasn't enough, every single car suddenly needed to be mainstream-friendly. It's sad, because now the WRX will be a worthless Japanese option that only die-hards will buy. Unless someone is shameless enough to tell me that paying $30k for the Limited WRX is worth over $29k for the CLA, (estimated) ~$30k A3, and even the 2 series... It's just not....nowhere close to be competitive. Let alone the STI...you can't expect to compete in the $35-40k market while keeping your performance figures the same since 10 years ago. |

The old whine "same performance figures" is getting old. Subaru doesn't have to make an entrance any more, no reason to bump the specs w/o market pressure. I'm happy they haven't axed the STI at all. All those CLA/A3s at the same price point are vastly underpowered. |
