Agreed. I would've been very pissed had that happened. As it stands, I'm selling the Vortech kit, even though I've never used it. I'm going to explore other options as my luck with this motor isn't very good.

Just to make this abundantly clear to anyone else reading this - I do not beat on my car. Its my daily driver at the moment. It had 27,031 miles when I dropped it off at the dealer. Very rarely do I venture past 5k rpm, only if I absolutely need to. The car has never been over revved. I don't dump the clutch (I like my tires too much). The car has not put a single tread on a race track or taken part in any competitive/educational driving event. I've never even taken the car past 100mph. I do all my oil changes every 5k miles using Mobil1 synthetic and a Purolator PureOne filter.

Basically, I baby this car. Its my first brand new car, so I have every reason to.

Im trying to write up a list of questions for the FE when they call. I've got a few already, but do any of you have any suggestions?

1 - Clarification on the coolant loss issue/possible bad block deck
2 - What caused the rocker arm failure? If he blames it on anything other than abuse, proceed to #3
3 - Find out what's up with the "one time courtesy" statement
4 - How did the DI seals look? Could the coolant loss/warm leakdown results/rocker arm all be somehow related?

I'm sorry to say it, but you did modify your engine and you are lucky that they are willing to replace anything inside the motor for free at this point. You did have Visconti's tune which I know normally has a higher rev limit which could have led to valvetrain damage as well.

I would definitely ask the guy how replacing a rocker will fix a coolant loss issue. I am assuming they were pulling the heads to check the head gasket and in the process noticed the bad rocker arm. I would ask for a list of exactly what has been done to the car and what will be done to the car in the future.

Maybe if you're lucky Toyota will want the block and you'll get a fresh one.

I called Toyota yesterday because I have not yet heard from the field engineer. I asked what they were replacing and if they could fax me the parts list. The SA had an attitude with me from the moment he answered the phone and said "we're just waiting on a (1) valve to show up. It didn't appear to be bent but we want to replace it anyway." I asked if that was the only thing they were replacing, and he then said "the whole cylinder head."

Other then that, I can't get any more info out of the SA. I asked if he knew why it was being good willed instead if warrantied and he said he's only repeating what he's been told.

Its also a good thing I called, because they said last Wednesday that the FE was going to give me a call, but apparently he wants to meet with me in person to discuss the car. And he won't be available until Wednesday morning at 9am.

Priority Toyota's service department is clearly top notch. /extreme sarcasm

Stop talking to the adviser and talk to the GM for the department; note your adviser's attitude and inability to answer basic questions.

A "whole cylinder head" is a LOT of parts and I wouldn't want the tech poking around in there...though perhaps this will give them the opportunity to take the DIs out. I'd request to see those just to see what the health is like.

I have had to add coolant twice now. Once last August. And once last week. The resivour had gotten past the low mark twice. Last year was completely stock but had been auto crossing it since the first week in June. Now tune and evo intake tube. Haven't had any issues with the car. Has 240 runs on it now. When it was cold and with e85 it was hard to start getting pops and backfire trying to start.

My coolant is low as well, now that I came back from a road trip. This should be expected after a 17 hour drive though?

There should NOT be any coolant lost. Unless the headgasket is blown or there is a leak somewhere.
