I would never buy a car that has been modded either. And you're right, a lot of these twins are like that

Unmolested bone stock cars with low miles that have not been abused are out there. You just need to find them. I found a '13 from the original owner who was a perfect seller. No mods, never driven hard, garaged, etc.

What are grounds for a void warranty ?

WHAT IS NOT COVERED

This warranty does not cover damage

or failures resulting directly or

indirectly from any of the following:

> Fire, accidents or theft

> Abuse or negligence

> Misuse — for example, racing or

overloading

>Improper repairs

> Alteration or tampering, including

installation of non-Scion Authorized

Accessories

> Lack of or improper maintenance,

including use of fluids other than

those specified in the Owner’s

Manual

> Installation of non-Scion Authorized

Parts

> Airborne chemicals, tree sap, road

debris (including stone chips), rail

dust, salt, hail, floods, wind storms,

lightning and other environmental

conditions

> Water contamination

This warranty also does not cover the

following:

Tires

Tires are covered by a separate

warranty provided by the tire

manufacturer. See page 28.

Normal Wear and Tear

Noise, vibration, cosmetic conditions

and other deterioration caused by

normal wear and tear.

NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY

WA

REPLACEMENT PARTS
Warranty coverage is not dependent
upon the use of any particular brand of
replacement parts. However, Scion
recommends using only Scion
Authorized Parts when you need to
replace a part on your vehicle. Like all
Scion products, Scion Authorized Parts
are built to the highest standards of
quality, durability and performance.
They are also designed to fit your
vehicle’s exact specifications.
Your Authorized Servicing Dealership
maintains an extensive inventory of
Scion Authorized Parts to meet your
vehicle service needs. And because it is
linked electronically to Scion’s Parts
Distribution Centers, the dealership
has quick access to any parts it may
not have in stock.
Scion Authorized Parts are covered by
their own warranty (see your dealer for
details) or the remainder of any
applicable New Vehicle Limited
Warranty, whichever is longer.
Non–Scion Authorized Parts, or any
damage or failures resulting from
their use, are not covered by any
Scion warranty.

GENERAL INFORMATION

You are responsible for ensuring that

your Scion is operated and maintained

according to the instructions in the

Owner’s Manual and this booklet.

You should keep detailed records of

vehicle maintenance, since under some

circumstances they may be required for

warranty coverage. These records

should include date of service, mileage

at time of service and a description of

service performed and/or parts

installed. For your convenience, a

maintenance log is included in this

booklet. If you sell your vehicle, you

should give your maintenance records

to the new owner.

Scion will not deny a warranty claim

solely because you do not have records

to show that you maintained your

vehicle. However, damage or failures

caused by improper maintenance or

lack of maintenance are not covered

under warranty.

I'd strongly encourage you to look into the '17 Performance Pkg cars. Adding the Sachs dampers and Brembos with great looking wheels for $1K is a crazy bargain, IMO. I also suspect the shorter final drive is a big plus and hides some of the torque dip character, but I don't have any seat time in earlier cars. If you're getting the car for it's chassis like I did, the PPkg. enhances things I care most about. I love this thing and I came out of a '15 STI, which I also loved, but not that much I guess

I've never tracked or autocrossed a car before. I've only driven automatics and have only driven 2 cars with over 200hp in them, an '07 Mustang V6 and a '07 Volvo S40 T5. Both belonging to my parents.

I went with the performance package though anyways. One, because the wheels with the red calipers look so much better. Two, if I ever wanted to track it I'd have some necessary components. Three, resale value should I decide to sell it down the road. Four, the deal was too good to pass up and I probably would have regretted not getting it.

Will I take full advantage of what the PP offers? We'll see.

Copy? I wrote that all out by hand, took a picture, converted it to Adobe, printed it then typed it out here. Someplace along the line it took on a wonky format.

A lot of money can be spent on stuff. If much of that stuff is actually an "upgrade" is debatable.

I've had a 2017 Series Yellow Subaru BRZ for 5 weeks now and a little over 2,200 miles. I have literally zero complaints. The stereo and the head unit is fine. I use bluetooth to my Galaxy S8 for music and it works fine. It works just fine and sounds just fine. No complaints there. The stock tires are also not bad. They are made more for fuel mileage, tire life, and to be somewhat quiet, but stick decently well for how I drive. The power, at least on the 2017 model years that are 6 speed manual is not that bad either. Sure, an extra 50hp and 50ft lbs of torque wouldn't hurt but it's still a fun car. Exiting a corner at 5,000+ rpm in 3rd is plenty of fun. I plan to probably do a Nameless axleback for some better sound, and then eventually a UEL header and an OpenFlash tablet for a little extra power and to reduce the torque dip. The Series Yellow has Subaru's performance package included which has the better shocks, bigger brakes, and better looking and .5" wider wheels, so I won't be changing wheels, or upgrading brakes or suspension. All I really want to do is some exhaust pieces and an open flash tablet.

This. This. This.

This is the point of the car.
You don't need to mod anything.

The car is not a muscle car, it's a scalpel.

In case I never said it, I REALLY like this car.

All that stuff you're thinking of doing in front of the exhaust will have a huge effect on the sound of your exhaust. Nameless makes a solid product but all their mufflers, regardless of size, are turned up to 11 after they're broken in. If that's what you're after, then full speed ahead!

You really think the Nameless axleback 2.5" with the 5" mufflers is going to be loud? And then crazy loud with a header? I want a bit of extra sound, and a nice deep sound, but I don't want it to be obnoxious. I kinda figured with the stock front pipe, overpipe and midpipe still in place it would still be kind of tame.

I've had my 2017 BRZ performance package for 7 months now and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. The car itself is a ton of fun to drive stock.

There's another BRZ owner in Dallas who has his heavily modded (Tomei headers, CF hood/wing, KW coils, ecutek tune, e85, etc), and we're putting down the same numbers at MSR Cresson in my stock (at the time) car. He was not happy about that.

Really? Stock 2017 had the same power as an earlier year running headers, and an e85 tune?

Gotcha. That's even more fun than dyno numbers. I want to do a track day eventually. I'm in south eastern NC, I wonder what road courses are around here that let people drive on them.
