Just watched the first episode of "The Gran Tour"... kinda meh. It just picks up where the last top gear left off. Even a couple of segments were really painful to watch. Hopefully they do a road trip episode soon.

I thought so too. The segment where they "killed" a bunch of celebrities was pointless. And the fake fight the American audience.

The "guest star" segment sticks out specifically. I get it, it's a joke, they aren't top gear anymore and they aren't doing those types of segments. Same way with the British air force "fight". Just felt like they were trying too hard with the scripted jokes instead of using the chemistry they already have.

Just felt like a whole lot of the same when they could have tried a whole different show format or things the BBC would not have ever allowed.

Just got off the phone with a Costco Auto sales rep or whatever they're called at the local dealer they work out of.

Will hopefully be going down to sign paperwork next weekend for a 2017 BRZ

I dunno, I enjoyed the episode overall... I didn't usually watch the entire Top Gear show, just the clips I was interested in ... seems enjoyable and exactly what we expected from these guys. Visually I thought the car segments were great. That new test track looks nuts though.

Not saying I didn't like it, I did enjoy the episode over all, just slightly disappointed that they didn't try anything new and felt they were trying a little too hard to be funny, so much so that it felt unnatural. Granted, I've pretty much watched all the Clarkson era top gear ever since it's been coming out on final gear, so I'm a bit jaded I guess.

I kind of wish they did something different but was really happy to see the trio back at it again. The format works but it's also safe so I can't blame them for sticking to it. I think they have a lot of room, more so than with the BBC, to try new things though.

Congratulations! Welcome to the club. Regarding the Grand Tour episode, I've havent really watched Top Gear and never the USA one but a few episodes here and there. I found it really odd the way the tv show was setup but nonetheless checked it out. Regarding the Grand Tour on Amazon, I didn't mind the part with the celeb killings but it did throw me off a bit but wasn't enough to make me cringe in awkwardness lol. I've seen worse. I definitely enjoyed the episode and the show actually gives me a reason to use the GFs prime account!

I actually really liked the format that top gear USA ended up with which was the 3 affordable car+ challenges+road trip. Still had some pretty bad scripted jokes but it opened up for more chemistry type moments. Too bad they got cancelled right when they were starting to figure things out. Went to a taping during the first season and all 3 were genuinely nice guys.

thanks! I need to figure things out. One sales guy I spoke with said it'd take about a month, and one I spoke with tonight told me about 10 week lead time.

There's a CWP Limited sitting in Fairfield, but it's AT and I really wanted to try learning manual. It's also a decent price.

Probably just going to have to order and wait it out.

I was thinking GT might be more like this. Even the the first episode was like that it's 12 episode seasons so there is opportunity for diversity.
