I enjoyed the "leave it" comment about the cliche (and true) lack of power. Lol

A nice and down to earth review of the tS car. I also liked his suggestion that this car would drive much better on smaller (16") wheels:

the dude makes me sick. It is like he did zero research on the car.

He said ts means "tuned by subaru." really? since when?

He also went with the bs that the huge rear wing does nothing at highway speeds. Go ask 13 FRS owners how true that is....

I stopped after that. Get the basics right, it is not that hard.

I didn't notice about the tS thing, but not a big mistake after all. Even Subaru can't decide what the tS or RA acronyms really mean and they come out with different meanings depending the time period.

About the wing I think he is right for street legal speeds. He mentioned also about a flex on the boot lid that I never thought about it until I saw this video:

It is from an wrx sti, but I believe the same holds for the brz too.

In general I agree that he could be a bit better as a journalist, but maybe you should check his bio. He was basically a race driver and I believe that his opinion should count. After all he was considering buying a brz and he regrets he didn't do it, but overall he would prefer the base model and not the tS.

his opinion as a race car driver and how the car drives absolutely counts. I like the video overall after I forced myself to watch it, but those bits annoyed me to no end, which is very unusual for me.

I love how he said the tires totally changed the car and he wouldn't go in that direction if he owned one, just too funny. He did really convince me that I didn't need to buy a ts, which was very nice of him.

It really is amazing how both large and small the difference in tires can be depending upon how you use the vehicle. I bought a set of General all season tires to use as my winter set because there really is not enough snow to mount actual winters here, and they are really good tires, only when the speeds get beyond legal can you really tell where they lack traction compared to the stock tires.

Someone asked in his youtube channel and he mentioned about 16" and the best possible tire for that size:

Gotcha. I agree with the 16" having better ride quality (on a 50-55 series tire) on a straight line, versus a 17" wheel tends to have a 40-45 series tire. Then there are advantages of having a shorter sidewall (lower series) tire as well. Wheel weight (all things being equal, same wheel brand/model) will be less in the 16" , but the tire weight between a 16" to 17" is negligible

I was wondering this myself. The overall diameter of the front brembos protrudes into the drop center of most if not all 16" wheels I know of.
I'm a wheel designer and measured up the brakes on my own tS for engineering purposes.

The sweet spot for the BRZ is the PP package. Spend more for the ts package and your throwing away money for overpriced hardware from Subaru in the long run. Buy a base model you miss out on a cheap upgrade price for the Brembo package and the Sachs dampers. Which, btw makes the 17’s just fine for comfort driving.

IMO the ts wing looks ridiculous on a street car and just looks tacked on and boy racer on on top of that.

But hey to each his own, but take it from a guy whose almost 50 and seen all these kind of sells gimmicks before, think hard before you plunk your money down on bolt-ons. That are very questionable for a street car, and your return on investment is nill.

The big wing is the same reason why you may be able to get a bigger discount on a tS trim over a PP trim. I got $5k off my tS. YMMV.
