Wow, that's f'd up. I never priced insurance for a Lude, but when I was looking to buy a car (ended up with a new S2000) I priced out a bunch of cars I was looking at at the time. I don't recall the exact numbers but in order of most expensive to cheapest this is what I found:
-Integra GS-R
-Integra Type-R
-EVO
-E46 M3
-STI
-S2000
-E36 M3
-Z06 (C5)
-996 911 C2
-NSX

Coverage prices depend a lot on where you live as well. I always live near major cities, I previously lived 30 minutes from NYC (Manhattan) in Rockland county NY. Now I'm in Ft Lauderdale, 20 minutes from Miami. Miami is known to be a hot spot for people stealing Hondas, and NYC is just known to be a crash magnet, so insurance will be really high because of that.

Also, I'm 24, male, and single. I have one violation on my record (speeding) and that's it. That makes insurance retardedly expensive

Don't blame a car for a speeding ticket or where you live

To get back OT...I'll say this vehicle's supposed weight of 1280kg is very disappointing

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be legal or not available to the US. The power output is exactly the same with the added cage, better brakes, mechanical diff and no rear seats. I just see a steeper price, more exclusivness and a higher insurance premium since it's no longer 2+2.

The mean age is 30 for Scion buyers. Just saying...

And I don't see a cage being offered from the factory. Cages are not illegal, but they are not practical for US streets. You drive around with a cage (if it's a half cage that's fine, one that doesn't extend past the front seats), but a full cage is not. A cage is meant to be used in conjunction with a helmet. Get into a car accident withou a helment, you bang you head against that 2 inch tubbing. You won't be having a great day after that.

About the same weight as a Nissan 96 240sx. No complaints here

weight in and of itself isn't the end of the world. If the car is handling as well or better than these early reviews are saying, then the issue about the car's weight is a moot point isn't it?

i think we all were hoping for a really light car to offset it's low hp. 2800 lbs in today's market is already quite light, but 200 hp is just average.

I guess it must have shifted.

Scion is Toyota Motor's youth brand, and the tC coupe attracts the industry's youngest buyers — average age 26, says Jack Hollis, Scion vice president.

Back on topic!!

It looks both reviews drove the same car on the same are yet only Car Mag mentioned their car having R17 Michelin Green X resulting in a 3 for handling. That's a huge piece of information to not include would you think!?

Well I am a tad interested in the ft-86's 0-60 time. I know one of the articles said 7 seconds, but that could of been because of human error, the tires, or whatever. I found 2 0-60 mph calculators. I put in 200 horse power and did one as curb weight as 2500 lbs comes out to 5.5 secs and then did it again at 2800 lbs comes out to 6 secs. I have no clue how reliable these things are but if its close to 6 secs and 5.5 I am happy with that . This is the calculator I used. http://www.0-60cartimes.com/calculator/ And yes I know this car is more then just acceleration and speed but just a thought I guess.

Reasonable for a car yes, not reasonable for a car that's made so much hype about being lightweight. The Miata is 2500 lbs and RWD, so it's not too much to hope for a 2600-2700 lbs FR-S.

This car was never advertised to be a fast car. It was supposed to be a quick nimble car and fun to drive. And according to this review, it appears, that's just what it is.

If you want a fast car, buy a Z or Camaro SS...
