It's holding up fine. I caked the bolt with red loctite so it shouldn't come undone.

Sorry. The entire line of people allowing that thing to go to market should be fired.
What shifter are you using now and what do you think of it?

I believe Japanparts.com sells the whole shifter assembly.. which should work on a RHD gt86. I believe the USDM quick shifter should work as well because the transmissions are similar.

I find it interesting that quite a few of you had issues with the bolt backing out. Had mine for about a year now with no issue, and I didn't use any loctite. (knock on wood). I went this direction because it was said it was cheaper and better than the JDM short shifter. It also didn't lower the shifter at all. Only thing better would be to upgrade to the CAE shifter.

I'm on the oem but I'm also modifying a second one to actually shorten it. I'm integrating the reverse lockout with the knob itself. It's half finished on my workbench. -___-

Mine took a little over a year/15k miles to start coming loose. Good luck!

What don't you like about the JDM unit? I was under the impression it was just like the OEM but with a longer arm below the spherical joint.

I didn't get it. Just the first post that I remember reading when I was in the market for a short shifter:

"I've heard the opposite feedback about the TRD jp one. It's $600 or so, and the feedback from someone local that has it, said its barely any different. I was all keen on it, till he told me not to bother."

The guy skipped the JDM and bought the TRD Quickshifter and loved it. I have 0 complaints about my Quickshift, and as I said previously, the only thing I could see being better is the CAE Motorsports Shifter.

Holy exchange rate, Batman, I had no idea! Half that is still way too steep.

I don't wish the epic fail I experienced on anyone. Loctite has its place but the idea of slathering glue onto a fastener to keep it from backing out of a cockeyed joint insults my sensibilities. Just being honest about strictly that point. I'm glad some (maybe most?) of you guys have had success with it. When it's tight, it feels great.

I promise I'll share when I'm ready to assemble even if it turns out to be a flop.

I had a TRD Quick Shifter for almost a year before ditching it for the Kartboy. It's hard to explain, but the Kartboy feels much better than the TRD. Maybe it's smoother? If you can cough up the extra dough for the Kartboy and don't mind the high rpm rattles, it's worth every penny over the TRD Quick Shifter.
