I have a twin turbo RX-7 and I think I know what turbo unreliability is.

I hope it is NA, so I can put my own damn turbo on.

If I don't, I want: at least 7500rpm

I really want: 9000rpm

N/A is awesome... when you're talking about larger displacement motors, but an N/A 2.0 is really not an attention grabber. Unless of course it's pushing some crazy hp-per-liter numbers, but even then I'll take a turbocharged version.

200ftlb :O that's asking for a lot, seeing how the Ferrari 458 doesn't hit that specific torque level despite having the highest specific torque in a production car. 10krpm would produce more horsepower than that though wouldn't it?

My first post. Happy to have found you all.

On street cars, my vote is always for N/A over F/I. Turbos add complexity and heat. I'd rather spend my time driving a slightly slower car than spend my time sorting out a turbo that develops problems.

From what I have read, I am more concerned about weight on this car than I am about power. If Toyota is going to bring out a 3,000 lbs. car, it may be dead on arrival as far as sports performance goes. Very disappointed in the vehicle weight issue.

P.S. I don't know nuthin' about liquid cooled flat fours. How do you adjust the valves on those things? Screw-type adjustment? Shims?

....as opposed to air cooled flat fours which only a very small population of people have experience with? Regardless from Porsche or Subaru?

well..like most internal combustion engines....we use a circuitry of antifreeze as a liquid to cool our engines...!!

...for an N/A engine. Still, 398 Lb/Ft out of 4.5L [88 Lb/Ft per Litre] is hugely impressive for N/A. The N/A Corvettes can't come close to that; the Ford Mustang GT 5.0 on 91 octane is 78 Lb/Ft per Litre. I can't think of anything N/A that's better than the Mustang, let alone the 458 Italia.

Turbo cars only have problems when people do stupid shit.. Turbo cars have been part and parcel of millions of cars/trucks without issues..

Welcome

E46 M3's S54 made 84 lb*ft/L, 81.5 in US spec.

And it made that nigh the whole way across the rev range.

911 GT3 RS 4.0= 500hp/ 4.0L = 125.0hp/L
458 Italia= 562hp/ 4.5L = 124.89hp/L

Caparo T1 =557hp/ 3.5L = 159.1hp/L
