^^It's probably a good idea to bring it to their attention.

But a future TSB will cover you regardless. No need to stress to much.

Heard the chirp loud and clear in my BRZ just now pulling into my garage at home. 150 miles on the odometer, with the AC on and off. Haven't revved past 4500rpms once.

So, it is wierd now when I was on my way home from work it chirped when I was waiting for food through a drive through, and never shutoff the car. When I got home it stopped chirping so for me now it is on and off. Also, when I drove to the drive through I had the A/C on, but when I drove from the drive through the A/C was off.

I implore all of you with FRS' to cal 866-70-SCION, it is the scion customer experience line. I just did earlier today and told them about some of the issues i was having (I made sure to go on and on about the chirping and our forum). They are having a "specialist" call me back and are logging the complaint. They told me that they actually rely a lot on their consumers feedback. So If you haven't called them yet, please do. The more of us that file complaints through all the mediums (Dealership, phone, web.) The quicker the fix will come up.

I will be waiting for news on the TSB that was mentioned above.

It came back.

Arriving at the parking garage at work. I heard crickets. I was praying it was just actual crickets in the garage. Opened up the hood and there was the chirping again. So maybe I spoke too soon. Two days after posting that my chirps were gone, they came back.

Its much quieter than it was originally.

As a log.
Approximately 400 miles - Chirping starts.

Approximately 800 miles - Chirping audibly louder, can hear with music and AC on.

Approximately 1000 miles - Chirping quieter than original. Weather also much cooler, resulting in less AC use. Possible correlation?

1200 miles - First oil change. Chirping stops. With frequent checks just to be sure. No chirping!

2131 miles - This morning. Chirping has appeared to start again =(, but it still quiet. Weather cooler, Much less AC use than before.

Note: My driving has become more and more spirited as time progressed...I dont know if that has anything to do with it.

From what we've been told, they're working on a fix for it as I type this.

I was coming home from work the other day and traffic went from 70 to a dead stop and I had to slam on the brakes so hard that the car skidded a bit. I pulled into my garage and guess what...I have chirping now.

There appeared to be belt squeal as well when I started the car cold today.

It doesn't seem to like the hot weather because the chirping stops when the car sits and cools off.

Let my dealership service department know about the chirping when I went in for the first oil change. They were quite rude, and argumentative right off the bat. I explained how the car was worse with the ethanol fuels, and better with gas without ethanol. Also let them know that it is constantly there during idle. They had not heard of this issue before, and after looking for a bulletin and finding none, said that it was not an issue. They took the car for a test drive and they told me that there was no problem, that this was normal. It was because the car has a high performance Subaru engine. The guy also told me that there was no high pressure fuel pump in the engine bay.

The experience was very negative, and the service rep was incredibly condescending. Stay away from taking your car in for service at Toyota downtown Vancouver.

Yea I got a ton of looks pulling into the gas station yesterday. Unfortunately I think they were because of the chirping more than anything.

Wow, sounds like they didn't get any training on the FA20 engine. The high pressure fuel pump is right in the engine bay lol just Wow.

This kind of response from the dealer sours the relationship. Nothing is too much trouble when you are considering buying but once you buy you are just a dimwit who knows nothing and wasting their valuable time.

Their lack of technical training and response to you is pathetic. Sadly it's all too common.
