The Z was already ruined. A smaller, 500-lb lighter Z would be a huge step in the right direction, even with a 4 cylinder.
For sure the 3.7 liter in the current 370 has to go. Too big (bulbous, very high hoodline required to cover it) and heavy (even moving the rear wheels forward vs. the 350Z, f/r distribution remains poor for a 2-seater FR car at 54/46). Needs a new styling direction as well. 350/370 look rather toad-like to me... IMO, they should do a new Silvia/SX and Z on the same small, lightweight platform. And a 2, 4, and 5-door 510 lineup on the same platform as well! |

We don't need more torqueless wonders that cost upwards of 25k but we also don't need a V8 400+hp beast also. A 6 cylinder(The Goldilocks choice!!!) is the best way to do it even if they have to return to a high revving(7500rpm) 3.0L lighter V6 with D/I(280-300hp/240tq). It also doesn't need to lose 500 lbs as it weighs 3230 lbs(an e36 M3 curb weight) stock. Only about 300 lbs gone is considered great in my book(2930 lbs that is lighter than a cayman).
The Z needs to have good pull around town not just at the race track or going 10/10ths. I can understand if all you care about is the track but the majority of Z buyers will DD their cars as well. |

It's about time. I test drove the 350z when I was shopping for a new car at the time, and it felt way too heavy. I drove the 370z when it came to to potentially replace my current car, and while it was a step in the right direction, it ultimately still had the same core problems as the 350z. Both cars are just way too heavy with way too little driver involvement. The clutch pedal feel is also among the worst I've felt in any car, ever.
The original 240z was absolutely perfect. Nissan should return to this. Start with the 2.5 (V6) from the Infiniti G25, and then turbocharge it. Keep the weight under 3000 lbs, and they should have an absolute hit on their hands. |

I think if Nissan puts a real car out (kinda how they want to know) with a RWD, stirdy chassis, REAL suspension, looks, 6 speed, affordability, and LIGHT WEIGHT, Toyobaru will put a turbo or supercharger from factory and make it the 'stock' FRS/BRZ.
I sure hope so, because that would make Honda get into the action and then Mazda will try something, then we have the 90's legends all over again! Then you know (wishful thinking) rebirth of the Supra, Rx-7(9?), and some sort of hardtop S2000. We need that

Lightweight and smaller size closer to the twins and turbo 4 like the GenCoupe. Sounds like what many complainers on this forum have been crying for (more power from the twins). Promising. But let's see how Nissan executes. This seems to be a reaction to the success of others driven by a committee for profit. Which is bad. True automotive leaders are proactive in making something novel and original to show the world that greatness can be built from scratch. In this case, Nissan is almost constraining themselves to trends set by Toyota/Hyundai (following) instead of setting a new one (leading).

Nissan will never put an I4 Turbo into the Z for one reason, that would make it an Silvia. The next Z is gonna be powerd by a 400bhp VQ30VDT!!!

But what's up with this: "Inside Line says Nissan may turn to its corporate partner Daimler for some help in the chassis department." ...So what's it gonna be now, Daimssan? |

I heard this is going to be FWD. Yep, totally profit driven/committee directed like I said it'd be (if true).
