Totally agree. In fact I removed the soft top and fitted a hard top.

The problem is the Genesis is more on par with an Infinity G37, it's basically the same size/weight and has almost the same performance numbers when equipped with the V6. The poor little 2 liter turbo version is so under powered, I hope Toyota learns from Hyundai's mistakes.

I agree with the S15 comparison. I can't argue against the performance of the S2K, but.. I really hope this FT concept follows more closely the idea behind the S15...
it could be that everyone around here's just too scared of being flamed for bringing up the 240 to mention it.. plus, there are more S2K drivers on this forum than S15 drivers... (since the S15 was only available in japan and all..) Either way, I'm not sure why nobody brings up the 240, but... I think it's much more relevant to the FT than the S2K is. |

Hyundai's mistake is that they made the Genesis a total pig. It is at least 300lbs overweight.

Agreed. I was looking at the Genesis right when it came out and salivating. I don't care what badge a car has. The thing that immediately dissuaded me was when I found out how much it weighs. Sports cars should not be beefy. Weight is the enemy of performance.

How is a porker like the Genesis a more direction comparison to the FT than any other car? Its heavier and much bigger. Its not a compact light-weight RWD vehicle, which is exactly what the FT will be.
The S2K is used so much as a comparison because not only are the dimensions of the FT very similar but it is also the only compact RWD vehicle that was recently offered. I've used the Miata a few times, but thats more sub-compact. Both cars come with similar displacement engines. (Actually, the same. AP1 and the current Miata are both 2.0L) Both cars, in terms of comparing, aren't going to be perfect matches though because they're both roadsters. This is a reason the FT should be such a hit. Its filling a completely void market niche. |

Let's all hope that the FT-86 doesn't turn into a Genesis coupe type of car. |

Have you ever driven the 370Z? That thing is a dream to drive.

Nope, but owned a 350z. Fast, awesome torque, fun car overall, but still too heavy and large for my taste. Not exactly tossable, which is what I'm looking for in the FT-86. Owned an S2000 after that and that was more fun to drive.
Granted, everyone's idea of what's "fun" is different. |

K. Let's not talk about that Genesis anymore. I think we can all agree that the FT most closely relates to the ichigo.
(S15 was prettier anyway.) |
