McP struts are fine, but another benefit of wishbones besides geometry is that they allow a lower hoodline. I really hope the Kia makes it to market with the low hood and front fenders intact.

Why are people saying twin killer? That would suggest this car is competing in the same bracket, which it is not. The FRS is a $26k car. This car would only be a sales competitor if it was priced the same. I can't imagine it will be, not with these specs. At $30k+, it isn't a twin killer because it's A) in a different price bracket and B) a different performance bracket. It's not competing against the twins, it'd really be competing against the current Gen Coupe, Mustang, Camaro, maybe Cayman?

I think my dad (who works for Toyota, corporate level) said Kia was starting to get better with their quality more recently. Then again, I think he said that a couple years back, and probably wouldn't admit it today. He's gotten a lot more close-minded about competition recently. Used to say Ford makes a terrible car, but a great truck. Couple month's ago he complained to the construction company working on a Toyota project that he was tired of getting picked up and drove around in Ford trucks at a Toyota site. So who knows.

I'm neither here or there on the subject, but as far as Kia quality, apparently they're getting better.

Why are so many companies ripping off the GT-R roofline this year?

So far the koreans have succeeded in spicing up the eco box market and making pretty spec sheets. But it seems in the real world they are still missing that special something. What I mean is look at the genesis. It's got power (NA or turbo), brembos, lsd, rwd, 6 speed. Sounds great yea? So why didn't it ever catch on?

Lets hope they can change that with this car.

Genesis was set up to take on heavy cars like mustang, camaro, g35/37 .. not the same type of car we got here - lightweight basic RWD
genesis has a lot more comfort/lux stuff .. a bunch of stuff i didn't want
also its just too big and bloaty car for my tastes.
didn't feel right but it was beautiful .. i loved the interior

I like the Genesis but it was too heavy and did not get good enough gas mileage. Which, despite belief to the contrary, is important to many people regardless of what they drive.

Kia makes a good product that looks the part as well. I can't say I am in love with the front end of this car though. Grill shape seems to not really fit. Has a nice ass though. Though I think the Nismo IDx looks super cool so I may just have bad taste. Curious to see how it develops though.

Just read an interview with the project team leader for this concept, and when asked if they considered safety/emissions standards when developing the concept his response was, "For the concept, we didn't build in those requirements, so we'd have to alter a bit."That probably translates into, "If we do actually go into production, it will not look like this and the specs will be watered down."

They may not have the intangible parts for sports cars or the prestige for a luxury car (the two Genesis models), but the Sonata and Elantra are certainly competitive and interesting to look at compared to many models out there (particularly competition to Toyota and Honda).

They (the Koreans) have come a long way quickly. But having owned a Gencoupe and having driven in the last year an Elantra, Veloster, Optima (turbo), and Sonata (turbo) I can tell you they may have the styling, technology, etc down but they still need work with regards to suspension, gearbox, handling, etc. They are getting better, but they have a ways to go. I have no doubt that they can't get there, but it also seems like the Koreans like to focus on specs alone and not on driver feel.

GM has been saying this for twenty-five years! They can't catch up to a company like Toyota. Quality is number 1.

Wow could they copy the shape of the 86 any more? Especially the shape of the body above the wheels............then they decided to add some weird audi r8 shape to the mix????...................did they outsource the Toyota 86 design team to Kia?
