A monster is a great street bike but I would not suggest taking it to the track. A newer one, maybe like 06+ might be fun but even still they really aren't meant for that kind of riding. If you swap some good tires and maybe a 180 on the rear you could be in decent shape but I dunno ha

it would be occasional tracking just for fun, nothing serious. Its like what i do with my car. Few times at the track a year keeps me driving sane on public roads. lol

i plan on getting a 696 then eventually a 1200s

My Ducati. Carbon fiber wheels, fenders, etc. New clip-ons, SBK exhaust. Sounds beast.

Bought and built up my first bike, a 73 1000cc sportster.

Here it is finished...

Then I wanted something that was a little more... reliable.

Decided that definitely WAS NOT for me, so I traded it in after putting 900 miles on it for another Harley, which I've been daily driving for 3 months / 3100 miles and couldn't be happier.

I've only got a few mods I want to do to the new Harley like performance exhaust and suspension. Unfortunately the new Harley doesn't turn like my old one does. I could shred corners on the 73 sportster and had no issue with keeping up with liter bikes (I know how to ride unlike most Harley people I run into). The new bikes all come out with neutered suspension though, like they aren't expecting anyone who buys them to actually ride hard.

@ AtlasMick - that 73 cruiser you built looks like it was worth keeping.

Thanks! I still have it, just haven't rode it in about two years. It turns harder, is faster and lighter than my new bike, but something goes wrong every couple thousand miles. I'll probably be keeping it as just a show bike. Insurance is less than $100 a year and registration is $4 a year.

*But also gets 24mpg.

Speaking of motorcycles (of sorts) I feel a sudden urge to buy a three wheeler...
