I would consider it, not a huge fan of electronic throttles and if I wasn't worried about emissions or had access to a consistent high octane fuel I bet you could make more power than stock with two whopping carbs on there, not to mention the weight savings from the wiring harnesses and control units and high pressure fuel system. The thing wouldn't be a good daily driver (probably run horrid under 3k rpm, at least if tuned for performance which would have it running at >4.5k rpm all day) but I bet it'd be even more of a hoot with better throttle response than the OEM. Up until a year or two ago NASCAR was pushing 800+ hp through their carbureted V8's, there's hundreds of ways to skin a cat just like there is to combust fuel, a well designed carb can keep up with most fuel injection systems if the application is specific.

But than again I don't think many people believe me to be sane... I'll go back to fantasizing about a RWD conversion Abarth or rotary Miata.

I guess "new" is a relative term.

If it was simply for emissions.. They could have lowered the CR and made it all less complex. They were after a marketing HP number.. And DI gets it there.
They also focused on throttle response via The CR.. They definitely were after performance with the FA20.. Within a budget..

There was a thread about that awhile back, it's more credible than the convertible concept and power increase people keep bringing up.

This thread should be closed as it wasn't factually correct in the first place. It's just feeding the regalnoia.
