No voices here either. In fact, other than a sore shoulder, it was pretty much a non-event for me, which is unusual as I typically have some minor reaction to vaccines.
The second one is supposed to be the kicker.

Preach it, Brother!

Yea, I'm going to be happy with any result that gets me 95% immunity and doesn't put me in the hospital.

For those getting the 2nd dose soon, do you plan to take a day or two off when you do? I think I remember reading some anecdotal data from *supposed* phase 2 or 3 participants where they said it made them feel very lethargic for a couple of days.

I don't think a person gets 95% immunity. Just saying. I think a person's risk of infection drops to a 5% average (individual risk is dependent on other factors). Their immunity to COVID is either there or not there, or rather, it is either strong enough to prevent infection and disease after exposure, or it is not.

I have heard this too, that the second dose is worse in terms of malaise, but I plan to work the next day. My coworker is asking for a shift, so I may give her a shift if I am feeling low.

Yea, understood. Playing the odds on this one I guess.

No, my shot will be first thing in the morning then I'll play it by ear. I am scheduling a light meeting day, but plan to work. I have the flexibility to say screw this and go home if I need to.

Does make you wonder if there should be "after testing" to test each individual's response.

As I recall, the polio vaccine required 4 doses to get close to 100% effective.

In emergency/mass-casualty/multi-trauma scenarios, the triage protocol is to tag everyone with a severity color and then to assess resources to determine who will be treated. The philosophy utilized is very much that the ends justify the means for the greatest good--consequentialism. Kant and lawyers may want to argue for his Categorical Imperative or deontological ethics, but these people would be arguing for an absolutist/single moral perspective and wouldn't be very pragmatic.

Quote:
One final example of deontological shortcomings exists in the realm of triage or public health. In a disaster situation, Kant’s principles lead us to believe that providers have absolute moral duties to provide care to every patient[1]. However, in an emergency situation, providers must make decisions that place some needs ahead of others. Because providers must consider consequences of action versus inaction in a triage situation, a different, consequentialist ethical theory would be more fitting to help providers make this type of ethical decision.

Well, they could do a titer/antibody test. You could go get one of the ones already offered to see if you have active antibodies. I don't know how accurate the antibody tests are because those were initially authorized under the EUA. I'm sure they got better.

I might get tested just to see. I'll have to look into it, but thanks for bringing this up.
