Thanks Mike!

We'll definitely move to better pads and fluid after this weekend. I'm not sure I'll have time/pads before Saturday morning.

I'll read back through the thread to find what pad you and others have already recommended, but how about fluid? We run Motul RBF 600 in our sport bikes.

Do you think I should get a tune before my first track day? I have a first shipment car, 22500 street miles no problems but the DI issue is in the back of my mind.

Consider it cheap insurance.
Sometimes I feel like I'm punching my car in the face when I trying to get first on cold nights.

Got a track related question? I'll try to answer.

@CSG Mike
Which rear wing(size also), diffuser and front aero do you recommend for downforce improvement for track days? Thank you!!

I've heard other track day veterans recommend installing an oil catch can, even for a stock NA BRZ. Your thoughts on how necessary it is? (I would avoid adding extra weight/plumbing/complexity to the engine bay if possible)

thats the first i've heard of this. I can definitely see an oil COOLER being a nice mod for the track though.

Unnecessary. With FI though, it's absolutely necessary.

Question: I bought a new set of 17x9.0 rims for my car. Handling is very important to me as I will be tracking my car this summer. I found a good deal for Advans AD08 tyres, and I know (or at least, I think) the best tyre size would be 245/45/17... because of local laws I need to remain as close as possible to the original size. Would 225/45/17 be that bad for track use?

I saw upwards of 260-270 oil temps with stock car/oil at Road Atlanta this past weekend.

If you meant selecting an option to have tires heat cycled when purchasing new - if tirerack shows it as an option it can help set up the tire properly and to maintain optimal characteristics longer, otherwise it's not needed if it's not shown as an option. If you meant heat cycling by regular/track use, street (summer) performance tires will usually stiffen and lose grip as they they get more heat cycles. Different compounds react differently to heat cycles but performance (grip) will eventually decrease.

I had oil temps in the 290's and hit 300* at Sebring last summer; UOA afterwards done by Blackstone labs showing everything in terms of the oil properties was hunky dory.
