Even with newly tuned suspension on the new wrx sti, I still can't see it being better or even as good as a BRZ's handling. There is just no substitution for weight. Period.

EJ25 is a one of those engine that's a hit or miss. 90% of sti owners suffer from burning of oil (excessive amount), 30% suffer from cracked ringland, and some sort of boost creep issue when tuned. These are some issues that Subaru never bothered to correct. With that being said, these are some what minor issues. The engine makes great power, torque, and responsiveness. Not to mention there are already plenty of aftermarket parts and repairs available.

Quite often when a person becomes an experienced driver, they tend to know exactly what they want and what they need. As a track driver, there isn't a car that can match the specification and characteristic of a BRZ/FRS given the price point.

I concur with what many have said already. I've spent way, way too much money on a highly tuned Subie before, and while the car was an absolute blast at times, you can't add in exceptional engineering fundamentals after the fact. The 86 is so well designed. It is so much fun, and is a much better platform to build the car of your dreams on than an STI. If Subaru still offered an STI hatchback in the U.S., I'd possibly consider one as a second car, but as it is, the 86 gives me 85% of what I crave in a "fun" car, 100% of the time. That makes it very, very special.

The EJ25 was reliable on 04-06 STi. Not sure what in the world happened with 07+, but those engines seem to be more prone to ringland failure. Change of materials or unsafe tune to meet emissions? I wouldn't get the 15 STi because it has the same engine as 07+.

This...is tearing me up inside....why....why the heck does Subaru have to stick with the same 07 Engine ? Not even change of Pistons material ?

The WRX sounds like a better buy =/ . Again, what is the point to Opt in for a Limited WRX which will rack it up to 29k ? Why ?.....Why ?.......Base WRX is better I think

Seriously considering putting my FRS back to stock and selling all the parts and trading it in for a 2015 wrx.

I miss my 2012. It was the perfect all around car.

Can someone break down the main differences I would notice going from a 2013 FR-S to a 2015 STI?

Do you think it would suck as a daily driver?

I haven't really driven any true "super cars".. had a 1992 Celica, 2003 Camry, and now a 2013 FR-S.

The main reason I am looking to get rid of my Scion is it was in a really horrible accident, so I am not wanting to keep a car that already has $10K+ of repairs.

I haven't seen the new Sti in person, and still waiting impatiently for mine to arrive .

But a friend of mine came in today with his 2015 WRX limited . That car is looking a lot better in person , the carbon fiber trim, the leather seats and those LED boomerang on the headlight is really purrdy.

Will share my thoughts on BRZ vs 2015 WRX soon. My car should be here in about 10 days (hopefully sooner).

Why the switch? Didn't you just get the '14?

Yes. The BRZ ruined me.. I really like the 2014 WRX in terms of power, practicality, snow/rain, etc but the sloppy handling/body roll means the handling is just not there for me. I was in the process of pricing out and upgrading the handling to include things like front and rear sway bars and end links, springs, inserts or coilovers, proper alignment, etc. At the end of the day we are talking close to $2K of upgrades or more installed. When the 15's came out it appears Subaru really learned from the BRZ and greatly improved the handling and suspension of the 2015. I started pricing the 2015's and a dealer gave me a very good trade-in on my car and a really good deal on the new car (just above invoice). I am out about $1500-1800 total to switch from the 2014 to the 2015 and that includes taxes, etc.

Instead of dumping that much or more into a 2014 I thought I would start over with a better chassis to begin with. I was not expecting the dealers here to be as aggressive as they were with 2015's, and my car being the last year of the hatches with only 2200 miles on it really helped with the trade-in.

If you factor in the upgraded interior and the turbo FA20 (better MPG vs the EJ series engine) it makes it a good deal for me. Still not sold on the exterior styling and hate that I am giving up the hatch...

Just the base WRX with some added accessories (short shifter, fog lights, might add the rear lip spoiler). I don't like leather and I don't like sunroofs

The only thing that sucks is that the only way to get the push button start with proximity sensor on the WRX is to buy the Limited model with the NAV/HK audio package upgrade...
