I usually go with Hess because everyone else around here charges extra for using credit cards whereas Hess has the same price cash or credit, and it's lower than the competition's cash price. Everything over here has ethanol in it, so it's all crap as far as I'm concerned. If I lived upstate or somewhere else that had pure gas, I'd likely use that instead.

Shell and Sunoco are no brainers. But when I'm out late night I to go to Wawa because everything else in my area is closed. The thing is they only use 92. But I figure there's only 91 in California and I feel no huge drop in performance. So IMO Wawa is good for late night.

What i learned about this car is that gas plays a big role on this gas performs.
BP- i use if im desperate need of gas because its across the street but i hate that if you dont have cash its like an extra 15-20cents a gallon.
shell- i use once in a blue because theres not one thats close to me. there gas is good tho
hess- i've used a few times and my car acts sluggish when i use it. I also get a weird noise coming from the fuel pump. not the chirping but a weird whinning noise
sunoco- i love. by me sunoco is cheaper than shell and bp and my car always runs great when i use it.

i guess the other brands would be mobil/exxon or sunoco which i think offers 94?
Is 94 the best? I've never used anything other than regular until getting this FR-S so never noticed the numbers haha

I figured gas played a big part that's why I asked my question, being a n00b and all but everyone's feedback has been helpful! I used to use ONLY Mobil Regular for another car I drive but someone told me Mobil's expensive. Looks like people use the 4 you mentioned, whichever is the better price/convenient. I definitely use credit card every time so when there's that price difference with cash and credit... Guess I'll be using my little GasBuddy app a lot now! Thanks!

I just picked up my 2014 BRZ yesterday and I've been researching what the best gas option would be for me as well. This is new to me since I've only ever used regular on my past cars!

From all the thread's I've been reading it seems like shell and sunoco are the best options, and ethanol-free is the best option as far as keeping the crickets away and that the Shell 91 v-power is ethanol free. Is it possible to get this on long island?

I'm gonna have to scope out the local shell stations and see what they have. If they don't have the ethanol-free 91 octane I guess I'd be stuck with the shell 93 v-power with ethanol or possibly a Sunoco 93.

Edit: Checked a shell and sunoco on the way home from work. Shell had 93 v-power with 10% ethanol and sunoco had 91 and 93 both with 10% ethanol. I'll be checking a few other local shell's that are a bit out of the way but still not too far. I don't think I'm going to find ethanol-free gas anywhere though

Have you had your fuel pump replaced with the new fuel pump. I had my fuel pumped changed twice. First when I got the car and a few weeks ago for the brand new issued fuel pump. Since then I haven't had any chirps so you might want to inquire about that with your dealer. But gas wise, I usually use Shell and Hess. I've only used BP once.

I use FasTrac 91 no ethanol, but I don't think they have them down closer to the city. I I only found one station here that sells 93 (Sunoco) unless I'm on the state truway, but I heard that 91 no ethonal is the equivalent of 93 with 10% ethanol, so I'd rather stick to the no ethanol gas. 10,000+ miles so far and no chirping [yet]!
