Test drives, dealership personnel ... my car had 89 miles on it when I got it ... can't imagine there was any adherence to low RPMs

yup, I was kinda excited to end the break-in myself. Don't worry, nobody was within a 1/2 mile of me.

I wouldn't change the oil until at least 5,000 miles. Used oil analyses have shown that the oil is fine and there is no need to change the oil so early.
Plus the additional moly, zinc, and phosphorus from the factory fill is probably beneficial for a full break-in and will probably be more robust that any oil that you replace it with (unless you switch to a race oil). -Dennis |
