I've only ever done Gymkhana in the dry (on the main straight at Zwartkops) with a FWD car with no driver aids... Never ever really been on a skidpan but simple logic is that all your cars handling tendencies are drastically increased with less traction... The 86 is a car that can understeer (difficult but possible in the dry) and oversteer (a lot in the wet). The handbrake may be necessary...

Do you know if there any rules regarding traction aids as I think Sport mode may be best for us rookies?

I'm a total noob with RWD. If I do go, I won't be turning everything off, will likely put it in sport mode for a little assistance. All depends if I can crack that 1600km mark before then

Judging by my experience 4000rpm and the handbrake will be all you need... Depending on how tight the course is... I fear the Ford ST's may have better tyres and embarrass us. I'm guessing you've done (or at least tried!) a handbrake turn before? I've managed to make my 86 understeer a couple of times in the dry but the dominant handling characteristic is oversteer of course.

Come on guys don't be shy. Track days are dangerous, here you will barely get past 40km/h I reckon - and this is real and controlled fun. Phoned the panelbeaters today and what do you know, they suddenly have my parts...

And the woman who was handling my case no longer works there and nobody notified me. Thank goodness I phoned. Pathetic! They can have my car, after the gymkhana...

Sweet, I've taped up my back bumper as best as possible - it looks a bit better. Will see you there!
