Hyundai announced the Turbo Veloster around the time the N/A Veloster (or maybe even before) it launched. Hyundai isn't stupid.

Yeah, there is nothing confirmed at all at this point, period.
And the engine isn't new at all like others have said. |

It would be awesome if they did put this in a future STi BRZ version, but I doubt it will happen.

I am confident it will eventually come, but by that time there will be plenty Superchargers/Turbochargers already out in the market. An OEM option is the safest route when it comes to warranty.

So that is to say that the STi BRZ would have a ratio of .1 Hp/Weight.
This would be beyond supercar territory. Saleen S7 = .254 Carrera GT = .198 599 = .166 SLR McLaren = .164 Etc, etc.. I'm calling shenanigans. Another slow news day equals a rediculous article. |

I figured Subaru's 1.6 liter DI turbo might be more likely for the BRZ, because, all else being equal, a smaller displacement engine should fit more easily. I know this has been posted before, but:
http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...r-engines.html BTW, I wouldn't take the "no turbo ever" statements too seriously. |

It does make sense that Subaru would be turning back to their 2.0L engines to replace their 2.5 linup aside from their heavier vehicles, specifically because of the mpg gains. If they can drop the 2.5 and bump up their entire Impreza / Legacy line 3-4mpg it would be a significant fleet mpg improvement.

Saleen S7 = 2750 lbs / 750 hp = 3.7 lbs/hp CGT = 3000 lbs / 612 hp = 4.9 lbs/hp 599 = 3721 lbs / 612 hp = 6.08 lbs/hp SLR Mclaren = 3900 lbs / 619 hp = 6.3 lbs/hp BRZ-T = 2800 lbs / 280 hp = 10.0 lbs/hp So the BRZ-T wouldn't be anywhere near supercar power-to-weight, closer to 370z actually: 370z = 3232 lbs / 332 hp = 9.7 lbs/hp |
