I thought that survey was for speeding tickets.

Most never say what the tickets are for just "tickets".
Get one specifically for tickets and we don't even make the list. In fact most on the list are NOT the cars 16 year olds are driving.

1. Lexus ES 300 – 33%
2. Nissan 350Z – 33%
3. Dodge Charger SE/SXT – 32%
4. Volkswagen Jetta GL– 31%
5. Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS/LT – 31%
6. Mazda 3S – 30%
7. Volkswagen GTI – 30%
8. Dodge Stratus SXT – 30%
9. Acura 3.0s – 30%
10. Toyota Tacoma – 30%
11. Mazda Tribute – 30%
12. Subaru Impreza WRX – 30%
13. Lexus LS 400 Series – 30%
14. Subaru Impreza 2.5I – 30%
15. Mercedes-Benz C300 4 Matic – 30%
16. Chevrolet Malibu 2LT – 29%
17. Lincoln LS* – 29%
18. Ford Fusion S – 29%
19. Mazda 3I – 29%
20. Chevrolet Tahoe K1500 – 29%

In fact it appears we dropped of the list for even generic tickets in 2016!

Oh there is the one where we are in number 3. Right in there with the Mercury Topaz, Suzuki Reno and the Prius C. This list of cars are NOT the most ticketed for speeding just tickets.

I could see a kid spinning or crashing easier in a RWD than a FWD car. Maybe it's just me, but in my Integra i felt that even though it was more likely to understeer, it rarely did. Moving into RWD, i noticed the rear goes out no problem with just a jab on the gas, even if you don't mean to sometimes. Unless you're ready for it, it can really ruin your day.

Sad story.

How many of us have survived certain death by pure millimeters or luck, in slow and fast cars, fwd or rwd, when young, newly licenced, and acting like asshats. Not passing judgement on our young deceased friend here . . . just sayin'.

Another question - how the hell do three mid-teens even fit?

It can be done, just not so that everyone is comfortable.

I put 4 in the car often, 22-24 year olds, between 5'6" and 5'10", and its tighter than most but nothing crazy uncomfortable

But this was not a spin and crash this was a move in straight line and veer and crash. Could have been any car.

I guess none of us 50+ year olds should be around with all those RWD careening out of control all the time when people jabbed the gas by accident.

Sorry for the sarcasm but this whole RWD is uncontrollable and requires special kills to drive mythos is one of my pet peeves. How many of you old guys fought the idea of FWD and antilock brakes because you thought they were harder to control the car? I know I did.

It's not that it requires a special skill, it's just a lot of people aren't that bright.

Very sad and my condolences to the family - I cannot fathom the loss of a child.

That said, what puzzles me is the fact that this was a fatality. These cars are well rated in crash testing - and I have personally seen a number of totaled cars with the passenger compartment intact. The article seems to indicate he was ejected; was this tragedy the result of not wearing seatbelts???

Agreed but they are not bright regardless of which (and how many for that matter) wheels move the car.

Seems like there's a news article every month about some kid crashing and dying in Hwy 9 and nearby mountain roads...

They all want to be Initial D characters. Check YouTube for videos of them racing.

9 and Skyline during the summer experience a lot of helicopter activity as bad judgement takes it's toll on the guilty and innocent alike

Absolutely. There were cars I wanted that I didn't buy just because only came with antilock brakes. But, to be fair, antilock brakes pretty much sucked early on.

First FWD car I owned was a '77 Honda Civic Wagon. Bought it used in '80. To show how much folks didn't understand FWD at the time the previous owner had put larger/wider tires on the back because he wanted it to look more sporty. Visually, it worked well. Didn't do much for getting more power to the ground though.
