Don't get me wrong, I bet it's a TON of fun on a track but having to deal with a car like that every day? Going to work? Sitting in traffic in that?

Think of your favorite overly ornate (maybe even luminescent) pair of shoes from elementary school. How would you feel if those were your only pair of shoes that you had to wear each time you went outside?
I would. But I give no fucks and already drive an Abarth.

Ok, Subaru/Toyota, you've been put on notice, now show us the goods!

Still won't buy FWD though
this post is pretty straight forward. What exactly were you trying to "articulate"?

Other than: Honda does this. I want you to do it.

If I misunderstood that post at all, please correct me.

OP: Basically everyone who's been on this forum for more than a month or two hates generic turbo-rumor / "they should put a turbo on it" threads. They pop up at least once a week and they're all the same.

We should really just make a stickied, "Post in this thread everytime you want to talk about how the BRZ doesn't have / is getting a turbo"-thread.

I turbo'd mine and realized the car loses a lot of character turbo'd. I GAINS a lot of character as well, but its not the same car anymore.

You can't do a straight up conversion from euros to usd for the price of a car. A gt86 should be in the mid to upper 30s by that logic.

That's not how it works. The 4A-GE was being pushed to 240hp a decade before that, the 3S-GE was pushed to 270hp without variable lift. Design goals dictate power much more than "technology" these days.

I know you know this, but for others like the OP.

Formula Atlantic - 4AGE 1.6L 240hp; NA, no turbo or boost.

Lexus LFA Nur edition - 4.8L 571hp; 119hp/L and lots of $$$

Toyota RVX-V10 - 3.0L 1000+hp; >333hp/L NA, and even more $$$$$$$$$

The 4AGZE is another little monster in itself, the jdm model was faster than the ft86 (25 years younger) straight from the factory. It can handle a bulk loads of boost too.
Toyota 1.6L 4 bangers were the rage back in the 80s and 90s... Now as well because of the initial D dudes.

Your arrogant attitude and ignorance in the original post was what was offensive. Hope that clears things up. Cheers!

Yeah, I still have a 20 valve in my garage with no car to put it in. 5 valves per cylinder, ITBs, forged crank, oil squirters and baffled pan. Yeah Toyota, you don't know shit about engines, pft....

This crap reminds me of every kid that thinks the latest NBA superstar of their generation is the greatest there ever was. Lame.

Grab an AW11 and chuck it in there, spend a little on tightening up the suspension if the previous owner hasn't yet, and do whatever you want with it, still the closest thing to a go kart to date for me....

I have a zzw30 which I prefer to the aw11 personally. I have something else in mind but it's a bit esoteric and something waaay down the road. ;P

What's ironic is it has all the doodads to push NA but the cast iron block is so stout it cries for boost too, heh.

I like the ZZW30 as well, trying to get the wifey into one. I was just thinking cheap fun/thrills since you are on an 86 forum. Other than the fact I don't seem to get along with SW20 owners, the BEAMs and 3SGTE are pretty awesome.
And you are right, it seems those engines were quite a lot more bullet proof from that era... The king of the bunch was the 2JZ handling 700hp (over engineered), not sure what it is now since E85 came to be....

So in closing, toyota can definitely make kick ass engines if they want to, the twins had different design goals that only a boxer or a rotary could fulfil at the time.
