There are also subtle exterior aesthetics that were altered by Scion FRS as well. Therefore, there will be a price decrease in the US. Monetary currency also dictates pricing when the euro is stronger than the US dollar.

Bottomline, you pay for what you get. However, Americans are easy to brainwash, quality surveying in the average American consumer is like "looking for water in a desert". We will buy anything that is cheap. This statements point to the fact why we never get any of the nicer and performance engineered Vehicles from German & Japanese Automakers -> Audi A3 hatch, VW Sirocco, Honda Type-Rs, These premium vehicles would be priced high, and a small US limited market will only buy because of desire. Now even US automakers are limiting us. The newest Ford Focus ST wagon is not offered in the US but Europe, what kind of logic is that.

In conclusion, you are right that we have high sale volumes in the US and cars are cheaper to handle the demand/supply balance. However there is a reason behind that cause, cars imported to the US are stripped of the cool/premium trim and tidbits, decrease in power output, shitty wheels. The real car buyers like me and many more 1000s here hate this deprivation because the no-brain, no-taste average American ruins it for the hobbyist/enthusiats. If it was up to me, I rather have the same market share like Asia and Europe, and the average American car buyer can just buy their tasteless American cars, Ford, Dodge, and Chevies.
Dude you are so right! Now I understand why we don't get the good cars.

I am still hoping that almighty Scion will allow us to build up a FR-S that is almost the equal to the Toyota 86. But If not I will somehow get all the JDM parts.
I just want a High-spec Toyota 86. The more videos I see of it the more I love it. Scion just let me order the bits. I got the money. I am willing to wait for my order to come in.

Scion for listening to me. I believe there are a whole bunch of people like me.

I'm not sure why people don't think this is a given.. its going to happen because we, as in a lot of people including myself, will buy it.

The price tag to develop a new vehicle starts around $1 billion "from http://translogic.aolautos.com" why wouldn't you spend a couple more mill to drop a turbo that you already have, on the car to compete and destroy a whole other price segment. aka 32k 370z

in the pics from the TAS you can see this motor in the back ground and the turbo really isn't much lower..

but haters all ways gonna..

It would be a pretty close race to have a turbo FR-S run a 370z, but even with 270hp it will probably lose. I do wonder if this cars gearing will be as aggressive as the 370's which is another factor people fail to put into account -_-

Thanks for the news Hachi!

I think GT86 and BRZ are going to be turboed. Comparing to the offers on the market Toyota and Subaru have to, to keep up with IMO (putting aside the fact that there have "usually always" been alternativ FI versions of Toyota MR2, Celica and Supra)

regardless if it was in the project plan or not.. I cannot wait 3-4yrs for one.

That stupid blog was confusing old EJ. Meaning the EJseries in the current WRX and STI which had mid-high firewall mounted turbo.

The current 2010+ Legacy GT and future turbo Subaru vehicles will have a bottom front mounted turbo. Also being able to fit in the BRZ because the radiator is slanted well enough for clearance, and even with the low ride height the turbo only takes like 1" more away from ground clearance.

To end the argument for turbo haters and AE86 purists:

FRS = N/A with option to add aftermarket FI (goodluck)

BRZ = Same as FRS

STI = Pay to play, reliable, warrantied turbo power.

Everyone is happy. Look under my name I'm El Presidente and I have spoken. LOL

/argument.

IMO, Subaru should follows Porsche's forumla and keep the WRX/STI line completely separate including engine, aesthetic, and handling characteristic.

Make the line up like the followings:
BRZ = stock Cayman
BRZ convertible = stock Boxster
BRZ STI with larger displacement 2.4 N/A motor = Cayman R

WRX with the new 2.0 FA turbo = Carrera 4s
WRX STI 2.5 turbo =911 turbo

No one has asked the obvious question.

If the FA20T is going into the WRX, what's that 1.6 litre turbo engine for?

Put the god damn thing in the light weight sports car, for fuck's sake!!!

I shouldn't have to do it -- the FACTORY should. Charge me accordingly.

'tis but a tiny mudball we all squirm upon

I can't believe that trubo is going in the WRX. We all know that will be the common swap for pro-drifters... grrr. Just make it an option for those of us who like sports cars to also accelerate briskly on occasion

My Z would be perfect, but it's too fat.

The 86 would be perfect, but it's too slow.

With boost the 86 will be perfect (for me, anyway).

that 1.6L turbo engine is actually part of a hybrid system used in the Advanced Tourer Concept...eg most likely the next gen Legacy design concept going green.

We have only speculated that the 1.6L turbo will be be available for the wrx or brz because WRC regulations require 1.6 displacement now. And rummors were Subaru is trying to get back into WRC with that engine.

But reality is...nobody really knows (unless your subaru of course).
