in these threads nobody is even speaking to the same points. the cars are slow. it does other things well but its slow. yes, a camry or even a mustang wont feel as fun or inspiring. that doesnt make the frs any faster though.

I guess some of us have different definitions of what is "fast", what is "quick" and what is "slow". Maybe it takes being over 40 and having the experience of driving many cars to really appreciate the FR-S/BRZ for what the are.

I just hate seeing every new person that comes to this forum being constantly bombarded with the rhetoric about how slow this car is. Then they think that the only way to make this car decent is to spend a ton of money supercharging or turbocharging it. At the same time, many of the early adopters who used to preach that gospel and have gone the FI route have already dumped their mistakes on someone else, gone back to stock to recoup what money they can and sold the car or blown up an engine or two.

Anybody ever on niccoclub.com or any other 240sx forum when they first came out? I wonder if people bitched as much about their power as well??

It's fast where it counts. Shredding corners on my stock donuts in my stock FR-S is many times the thrill I experienced lighting up tires in my sick built to the balls 3/4 race old gold Chevy. Hell, bet very few of the current crowd has even heard of or knows what a 3/4 race is. 800hp street cars were common in my day. It's been done so lets move along kiddies.

Of course it's slow. Was that a surprise? If so, research was not performed by the buyer. That would be disappointing. I knew the car was going to be slow below 4k rpm. It's a high revving motor high performance motor. That's my favorite stuff. Plenty of room to play around with it. It was built to be modified per owner's taste.

This man speaketh the truth I own a v6 camry and it really isn't fun to drive. Good car, just not fun to drive and no stick shift in the v6

I'm starting to suspect that the people who complain about the power have no interest in the other aspects of the car. Sucks to be them.

Yeah but you can buy two now for $25000 and weld them together and make an SS4000 and buddy, let me tell you something, that thing will be super fast.

Meh, I'm probably about the same age as you and similar experience, I've only owned the car for a few weeks and I'm on the fence.

It sure as hell feels fast enough coming out of a corner in 3rd gear. Unfortunately, we have a lot of straight roads here. Outside of needless on and off ramp adventures, I have to go miles out of my way to find a road that isn't completely straight. Maybe that's a good part of why I would love another 100 hp. I'd probably settle for 30 and no torque dip, but I'm no really interested in E85 or voiding my powertrain warranty, so I'm going to see if I can learn to like it as-is.

If I had to really complain about something, I think the exhaust is too quiet. I need to talk to my dealer about a cat-back and the TRD intake, I'm hoping those being TRD parts will get a "nah that's no problem". The sound tube crap is not cutting it for me... But I don't want some stupid loud catless straight pipe thing either. If I got 4 more HP that's 4 more than I had, but it would certainly add to the enjoyability. It's a second car and if I don't feel like driving something stiff/loud I don't have to.
