Headlight output is not affected by blacking out the housing at all. Housing itself does not have any reflectors. Lowbeams are in the projector and high beams have their own reflector (pretty visible in my pic).

Anyone successfully done this yet on a Australian GTS? I had my front bar/lights out and paint ready to perform this today, but after seeing how many electrical components were inside the housing I quite honestly bitched out. Our GTS model has LED DRL's and auto centering motors, all of which will have to go in the oven. Wasn't too game to risk it....

I've baked my STi lamps with the motors with no issues but I obviously can't guarantee the same outcome on yours even though I'm highly confidant you won't cause any damage.

LEDs are sensitive to heat, but people bake Spyder headlights all the time and the LEDs still work. Just depends if you want to risk those expensive headlights

I've toyed with the idea of putting them back in without the auto levelling system, or I'll swap the motors over. I'm just insure about the way they actually level, in tea of design the motor run all the way in, then all the way out and find its centre point. /confusion. |

If you want to play it safe, go low and slow on temperature and time. 200F (or whatever that equates to in your upside down Celsius) for 7-10 minutes should do it. If you want to be reaaaaaally safe, get a heat gun or blow dryer and slowly work your way around the headlight to loosen up the adhesive. On some cars, the auto-leveling motor can be twisted out and removed (kind of like a bulb gets twisted in/out to install/remove). Not sure about these cars. |

Thanks for all the advice guys.
I think I'll get a heat gun and try and do it that way. Anyone else substituted the oven for heat gun with success?
