I'm interested in a set of SSR wheels. They are 16X7.5" with +48 offset. I'm wanting to use a 205/55R16 tire or something similar. Would this look strange on an otherwise stock 86?

16X7.5" with +48 offset will be 1/4" closer to fender than stock, and 1/4" further inboard. Similar in appearance to 16x7" +42 from the outside. 225/50 would be a perfect tire for that rim width; IMO a 205/55 would look skinny.

WHEEL |-- STOCK HEIGHT --| |-- LOWERED 1" --|
WIDTH |--- FRONT REAR ---| |-- FRONT REAR --| 7.0 |------- +25 +18 -----| |-- +23 +13 --| 7.5 |------- +31 +24 -----| |-- +29 +19 --| 8.0 |------- +38 +31 -----| |-- +36 +26 --| 8.5 |------- +44 +37 -----| |-- +42 +32 --| 9.0 |------ +50 +43 ----| |-- +48 +38 --| 9.5 |------- +57 +50 -----| |-- +55 +45 --| 10.0 |----- +56 +51 ------| This was taken from the OP from the Wheel Directory In my case, I have decided on 17x9 +42 wheels square. I will be lowered about 1" on coilovers, so no concern of rubbing spring perch, but I'm looking at "perfect flush" measurements of +48 for the front and +38 for the rear Am I to understand that I will poke 6mm in the front, and sunk in 4mm in the rear? Are those numbers based on 0 camber/factory camber? If I run 17x9 +42 on all corners with a moderate "hard-cornering" alignment ( ~1.5 front // ~1.0 rear).. will the front really poke? My initial impression was that +42 is a pretty non-aggressive setup. I'd prefer to be slightly sunken in than poking out Last edited by brazy; 01-25-2018 at 11:03 AM. |

You'll be just fine! -1.5 front camber will tuck the top of the tire/wheel and will look great. I added a 5mm spacer to my rear 9" +42 wheel to make it flush. I'm at -2 rear.

I had the same plan for the rear spacer.. good to know you've done the same and like it. I just wasn't sure about the front, +48 seems like a high offset for it to sit flush. Just checking! thanks for the input |

+48 is accurate, but with your +42 wheels, coilovers, and some camber, everything will fit/look great!

What would be the best size tire for a wheel 18x9.5 +39 with coilovers and LCR?
Can't really wrap my head around how it works.

https://tiresize.com/calculator/ Hello! Use this link. Type in the stock tire size in "size 1" (215/45/17) Now type in the size tire you are thinking about in "size2" - Let's say 255/35/18. It will tell you that the diameter is only slightly (1.6%) larger diameter, but has a much wider contact patch. I would suggest one of these sizes. 245/35/18, 255/35/18 I would also suggest reading the Meaty tire threads first page. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41083

Damn there is so much to look up and check.
Im still very green on learning all these clearances and fitments. Can anyone double check me for flushness within a close reasonable amount and a good fitment overall please? I have: Tein lowering springs down 1.5-ish? Getting: Wheels = MOTEGI RACING MR116 18X8 (45mm offset for all four) Tires = FIRESTONE FIREHAWK INDY 500 Front: 225/40R18 Rear: 255/35R18 Or get same size that will be large enough to still fit the front and space out the rear so I can do standard tire rotations.... what size spacer for say the 255s all around? From what I've found I should sit pretty good unless im misreading. Let me know thanks. Much appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum! 18x8 +45 MOTEGI RACING MR116 will work for your front. I have the same exact size wheels for my front with the same offset, though now I have added a 10mm spacer making them +35. I am using a 225/40/18 MPSS front tire. If you want a wider tire for the rear, I would suggest getting a wider wheel. Like in the link below. I ran a 245/35/18 on an 18x8 and it was too wide. The 255/35 is not going to be a good fit. I have 18x9 +37 rear wheels with a 245/35/18 MPSS tire. Since my set up is close to a 18x9 +35, (like in the link) I can tell you that it will fit a 245/35/18 tire lowered on tein springs. But a 255/35 is going to be close and may rub. https://www.amazon.com/Motegi-Racing...I+RACING+MR116 Or get the 18x8 +45 all around with a 225/40 and call it a day. You can rotate the tires that way. Adding a 10mm front and a 15mm rear will make the wheels flush. (Or 15mm front and 20mm rear for a more aggressive look) It really is about what you want out of the wheels and tires. Happy to help.
