Ya if someone is able to throw up the latest TSB that would be extremely helpful. I will be carrying a copy of it to my dealership. I think someone posted the Subaru version but I can't find it in the thread and that doesn't help much having the FRS. Thanks guys!

Georgetown dealership tried to give me the runaround again. I called to have them order the new revised fuel pump and this is what happened.

Subaru: Bring in your car so we can verify the issue.
Me: Fuel pump chirping was verified in September when I last took my car in.
Subaru: Oh yes, looks like it was determined you have the newest fuel pump and that the engine chirping is a normal sound for the fuel pump.
Me: If it's normal then why is Toyota replacing the part?
Subaru: They are replacing defective pumps with VIN numbers earlier than yours. You have the most current fuel pump.
Me: So why was the TSB revised on Oct.28th, after I took my car in?
Subaru: I don't see that information here.
Me: I'll print it and take it then.
Subaru: No need, we have all the information here. There's nothing here on a revision.
Me: Set me up for an appointment on Thursday. I'll print the updated TSB, drive an hour to have you verify the issue again, and then have you order my part. See you then.

From what I've read it seems like this newest fuel pump is a winner and actually fixes the chirping. I understand there a back order on them, but I don't mind waiting at all. I'll do anything to get rid of these crickets!

There are a couple folks with the new pump that reported having louder crickets.

On my third full fuel tank (probably around 700 miles) with the new pump and I still haven't heard a single cricket. Same gas as I used with my previous very loud pump.
I still have to wait a bit longer to be sure but this is the longest it's been without hearing crickets.
I'm curious to see what the success rate is with the new pump.

Does the new pump still have the clatter of a diesel engine ?

Haha. Didn't notice that. But it does seem like the resonating tube is louder in the car now.

I recently started adding a capful of TCW-3 and am on my 3rd tank since. I can hear a faint chirping still, but today I noticed I don't hear all the racket it used to make. Basically, the noise you described. It made me clench my teeth at every stop light.

To be clear, I don't have the new new pump. I have one of the very early replacements that started chirping again not long after.

Yeah - the clatter or tapping noise as much as I hate it is supposedly normal. It starts its ritual soon after start up. It makes a decent sounding engine noisy.

So my chirping seems to have disappeared mostly with the colder weather. I think it has more to do with the winter-blend gasoline than with the cold weather though.

Possibly, but I think its more likely due to temperature. Biggest difference between winter and summer blends is butane content.

Direct injectors. Normal for DI engines from anybody. VW, BMW, etc.
