Most expensive sandwich I've probably ever eaten... $23 + tax/tip. Thankfully I got to expense it because our SF office screwed up and I couldn't order a normal lunch, and was told I could find lunch on my own and expense it.

"49er" from Deli Board in SF: corned beef, pastrami, brisket, white american cheese, cherry peppers, cole slaw, 1000 island, Board sauce on garlic dutch crunch bread.

Good looking sammy, but dam! I would have gone to Chinatown and had some crispy duck on the company dime, lol.

Lol unfortunately would've been too far. I'm here for all day meetings and just walking the ten mins to this place and waiting for the food took a while.

No pic but I was eating a breakfast burrito a few mins ago and someone on the team for ordering lunches came up to me just to make sure I can order lunch "the right way" today. I think he was worried I was going to expense breakfast too.

I found out usually we only get $20 credit for a few random "restaurants" and my total yesterday was almost $30 . They probably weren't happy about that. Oh well!!

I think that's technically how it works.

Basically the SF office has a food ordering system and you get $20 to spend on whatever, and it's all delivered together for people who ordered.

I think when I did it for the 2nd day it was $20 on anything across like 4 or 5 different "restaurants".

The annoying thing is they only let you do it if you work from the office. So it's one of those "perks" (along with free snacks/drinks/coffee/beer/wine) that you only get if you feel like killing yourself with the commute.

Wait, you get a lunch stipend and free food if you just go into the regular office? Here I was thinking this was some sort of company travel. Lol nevermind. My food/drink perks total to someone bought me a cookie once because I performed an engineering miracle, and that's about it.

Heh yeah that's how this place does it. A couple jobs ago it was just a catered buffet style lunch 3x a week with the usual snacks/drinks. Last job nothing was free.

That's the tech world for ya. It's not enough to get me to spend the 3.5 or so hours roundtrip for commuting though. Maybe if I lived 20-30 mins away.

Today was opening of Lobster season. We went out with friends and limited (24 total) in about 5 hours. We were free diving in about 10' and hit maybe 15 different spots. Weather was beautiful,, water upper 80's. The hardest part is dragging my old ass back in the boat LOL. Lobster for dinner tonight.

I made friends with a guy who lived on Caye Caulker when I visited there once. He took me diving for conch. I gained his respect with my breath hold but he put me to shame finding keepers. He'd always have a couple for every five I disturbed.

Sweet. My brother used to do that every year out there in Florida when they used to allow tanks. He used to come home with two giant coolers full of tails. We would eat them pool side at my parents house until we were sick. Good Times.
