It's the plate that is leaking. I was driving a bit faster I would say and when I pulled over started to smoke. And I saw oil dripping on the header. I'm taking the car over to Toyota and then I'll take it from there.

Noticed mine leaking at 16,500 miles. Posted a DIY fix here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53949

So far, no leaks!

i took my frs to toyota earlier today and just got a call saying its actually the valve cover gasket leaking and are replacing that. Hopefully this fixes it

Update: 12/31/13

Just got the car back from toyota and it turns out the main problem was a ring seal around the cam shaft was leaking causing it too look like the plate covering the vacuum pump was leaking. Here's the official write up from toyota.

I have oil leaking also but it's from my drivers side, near the drivers seat. Does anyone know why this is? Never performed a oil change, car has 3200 miles.

Has anyone noticed that the plate (from the outside) on the 2014 cars looks different than on the 2013s? I wish I took a pic when I was at the dealer. Did they make a running change?

My plate has the leak. Quite a bit of oil actually. Bought it in December 2012. I noticed the smell a month or so ago but tried to ignore it thinking I was just hyper-sensitive to the smell of burning oil. Now after some more driving and more smell I checked it yesterday and found this to be the issue.

I've read every post in this thread and I encourage others to as well. There are lots of DIY options mentioned as well as botched dealership "repairs". As for me, I plan to take it to my local dealership and work with the same service writer who did my chirpy fuel pump repair. I'll give them one shot to get it right and if it leaks after that, I'll fix it myself. At least this way SOA will have another documented case.

Thanks to everyone in this thread for posting up their experiences. Great thread!

I've been noticing a burning smell after I turn the car off. Smells like rubber or even clutch. Could this been the reason?

Yup definitely have a leak. Havent driven it much but the last time it smelled real bad. Too cold to deal with it today but I'm sure as sht not going to take it to the dealer for a glob of hondabond. Oh well, now I feel bad I didnt do my own 5k mile check. Got it with 3.4k on it but it pretty much had its 5k check then.

I get the same smell when I'm stopped at a light or after I turn off the car especially on the passenger side. For the longest time I thought I was burning my clutch even causing me to change my shifting habits. Looks like this oil leak is the culprit after finding drops of oil on the exhaust manifold in the cam plate area. Mine only has over 2,000 miles.
