If I had $1 for ever choke I had to tweak or carb I had to adjust I could retire!
Try getting one of these puppies just right with no computer or electronic measuring devices:

Yep.

A "six pack". Triple dual carbs.

Was what I ran on the 440 Magnum in my Coronet R/T

That's so sick. I can't imagine trying to get that tuned though.

Don't let him impress you too much... these were not synchronized; from the factory they ran progressive linkage - at idle only one carb did all the work - hence the single choke plate on the center carb.

More complex and difficult to dial in yes... but not as bad as the dual Solex carbs on early Datsun Fairlady roadsters - I spent way too much time with vacuum gauges...

Ever time I hit the strip it took two or more hours to adjust the carbs for the weather conditions and fuel quality. Not only did the carbs need adjusting but you had to set the timing, adjust points gap and dwell angle. Pretty much everything your ECU does automatically had to be done by hand.

The diagnostics consisted of how did it sound and smell.
Give me a couple of screw drivers, an adjustable wrench and a nail file and I could get peak (for the condition) HP out of that old Ford of yours in an hour or so. Tuning my car now I wouldn't have a bloody clue where to start. Screens and screens of numbers that mean nothing to me but not a single screw to twist a micron or linkage to bend a fraction of a millimeter to get just the right exhaust odour.

So after I finally get my hooker headers and straight pipes you're coming to Connecticut right?

You mean a real engine or the starter motors they use in cars now and call engines?
