Get a list of Local Bike Shops (LBS) in your area and test ride as many bikes as your heart desires. The shops give great advice and welcome test rides. Road riding is all about the proper fit and the right components. The brand bike does not matter as much as fit and components. But do yourself a favor and definitley go to an LBS and skip Target, and Walmart.

Thanks. There is only one shop I know in my area but I know there bikes are pricey. For now, I will just get some advice to find the best bike for me and wait till I finish paying off my BRZ.

+1

Local bike shops are great. They will be able to fit you to the right size bike for you and the quality will be head and shoulders above anything you can pick up at Target or Wal Mart. The actual brand of bike it's as important since most companies now a days have pretty high standards.

I'm a roadie. I took a risk and picked up a motobecane le champ ti w/ the ultegra 6700 gruppo last year. Pleasantly surprised, though after riding a rented Trek Madone 4.7 for the Seattle century last year... Wow, CF frames are just so nice on long rides!

I've got a Thule Raceway Platform. I'm really hoping it fits on the rear end of the BRZ! I don't see why it wouldn't fit, but you never know. Will take pix whenever my car comes in, but being lucky number 13 in line at my dealership so it could take a while... I've got access to a Saris Sentinel 3, a Yakima Quickback 2, and a rather novel suction cup fork mount rack as well. Maybe I'll start a bike rack fitment thread. lol.

Since we are sharing. Here are my rides. One is missing. But the blue one all sorts of seat time. The only time I really get on the Spyder lately is to take the mtb out to a ride.

I ride a road bike. and have been holding off on the 86 for this reason. bike transport. I cant have the bike on the roof or on the back as I sometimes go around with the bike in the car and being mounted externally would attract thieves.

Hoping it will fit in the 86, at the moment it fits perfectly in my Raliart Colt.

If anyone can fit a 50cm frame with the rear wheel on in a 86 please take a pic id love to see it.

cheers

It fits!

I can confirm that a Medium (54cm) road bike fits in the boot and my 26" Medium frame MTB does as well. And that is with our Australian-spec full size spare complete with its intrusive bulge. Both wheels have to come off, but I didn't need to remove pedals or seat post. I think eventually I'll go roof rack to carry the bike when a good one to suit is available. However, I had to take my other car to a MTB race today - access roads are the issue!

This is what makes great use of my girlfriends corolla. I can strap as many bike racks as I'd like to it and never think twice

Although when she's at work I just suck it in and ride to wherever I'm going to ride to. It gets tiring at times but I like to ride

I love mountain biking. I did buy used Felt Virtue frame set and changed parts from my old hardtail MTB. I love it.

How much you have spend time in the saddle in this summer?

What rack is this? Where did you get it?
