Agreed that BMW's sucks. Porsche says what pressure each tire is (like an actual number), and how 'low' it is below their threshold (-2, -5, etc...)

...I'm pretty sure the Corvettes list actual pressures as well...

Yes, Corvette [and most of GM for that matter] have been showing actual tire pressures in the dash for quite a while now. It's everyone else that's behind the ball.

I could care less about keeping it legal.

For older Hondas with it you could simply take out the light or install sensors and reprogram the system with the new serial numbers... on newer ones like the CRZ the damn system won't let you use sport mode and constantly annoys the hell out of you so you are basically forced to buy the sensors and pay the dealer to reprogram (or just buy the programmer yourself).

I was mostly wondering how bad Subaru is with it.. if it's just the light and nothing else I'll pull the cluster and pull the bulb.

So, hopefully the car displays in-dash tire pressures. Then, when no TPMS are seen by the receiver, it shows a message, you click "OK", and it goes away forever.

The 08 STi just had the one idiot light.

I have already sent a letter to our US gevernment to thank them for trying to nerf the world in order to keep all the evolutionary mistakes alive.

Not entirely correct. Starting in 2008 when TPMS became required for all new cars, the federal mandate was for the direct, in-wheel type TPMS. The indirect (sensorless) ABS/speed sensor type some manufacturers was no longer good enough. My 2005 Mini Cooper has the indirect type, and I like it. In 2008 they had to switch to individual wheel sensors in each wheel. If manufacturers could still use the indirect type, I'm sure they would.

I'm doing without TPMS sensors in my BRZ (and '08 Mustang GT) for everything besides the stock wheels that came with the car.

I can confirm, its just the light that comes on. Nothing else is affected.

There's a pretty good DIY on this site on how to remove the cluster and put a tiny piece of electrical tape inside to cover it up completely and less ghetto than sticking the tape on the outside.

Edit: Thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7827

Also been confirmed that you can still turn off the VSC/TC even with the light lit.

One other guy posted a neat aftermarket TPMS sensor that clones the serial number of your stock sensors. So when you switch the car thinks the same wheels are still there. I think that's going to be the best solution assuming you care to spend 300+ per tire set to have the light off.

I hate sensors. I'd take mine out. Maybe it's because i work at a tire shop and dismounting tires from a wheel with a censor is a pain, but i am annoyed by the sensors.

Take 4 sensors, stick them inside your spare tire. Forget about it, forever?

Doesn't work for a lot of cars since many of the sensors need to sense rotation to activate (they aren't always transmitting). Not to mention most spares need to be inflated higher than normal, shich could cause the sensors to show a fault.
