Installers in Cali will do whatever you want. I think the law specify's something like 4" at the widest part.

Maybe the laws are different there. In FL illegal tint can get the installer in trouble so they won't give you any paperwork if you want to get it darker, below the AS1 or even the whole front windshield done.

Check out the Llumar Air Blue 80 for the windshield. Almost invisible tint with badass heat rejection. Kind of pricey but definitely worth it on a dark car in a hot place that needs to be legal.
