Small bits really add up. I was thinking about the seats as well, but the stock seats are really nice. Perhaps i'd replace the passenger seat with a lightweight one. Unlikely though, it'd look a bit strange.
I'm getting racing seats for my Celica, and i'm going to reupholster the stock seats and make them into household chairs in my room for TV/Video Games/Movies.

Drive the car conservatively for a while. Get used to the handling characteristics of a rear wheel drive car. After a few thousand miles, you'll know exactly what to modify. |

No mods, enjoy it. It's fast enough for 17. I had a pos 93 accord as my first car for 9 years and that was fast enough to get me into lots of trouble. Enjoy it stock for a while so when you eventually modify it you can truly notice and appreciate the difference.

You could swap out the LED's on the interior lights, license place, triangle thingy on the back, new shift knob, new tint, rims/tires, Opti-coat, and more. be creative with it. I am only a year older than you, but I have been taking notes and gaining inspiration for my own car on this forum for months and months. If you see an idea on the forum you like, don't just copy it, but add your own personal style and make it your own!

I've already ordered the first mod for my yet to arrive FR-S. I ordered the Subaru BRZ deck lid liner that cleans up the appearance of the deck lid, especially from the interior when the back seats are folded down. It's a standard item on the Subie but not included on the FR-S and completely interchangeable.

Debadge and while you are at it, move the engine behind the front seats and slap a Yamaha sticker on the long block so the car becomes the MK IV MR2. Yeah baby.

I am not too far off age wise, so i'm not hating, I just have a few words of advice. Before you make this car a money pit with upgrades, you have to do the most important upgrade first. A driver upgrade. By this, I mean to get acquainted with the car, and more specifically, RWD. Go to AutoX events, and go to driver school events in your car and learn not only how to drive fast, but how to do so while being safe and attentive to what your car is doing. I have been in hairy situations myself in RWD cars because of that young kid 'infallibility' idea that so many of us have (and sometimes carry into our older years...). Losing traction is no joke if you don't know how to handle it. One thing i'll suggest for you is to keep the driver aids on on the street and don't do stupid, illegal shit. Keep it for the track, where it's more fun anyways. tl;dr, Go AutoXing and go to HPDE's where you can learn about your car. And, most importantly, enjoy the hell out of it!

I won't hate on the kid since we have no clue if his parents actually bought him the car
I got a good 6 years on you but had enough money saved up at 17 that I could of bought this car myself (tho I would of had no money afterwards) The car is good enough until you improve those driving skills. Tho I would debadge, intake and exhaust just cause I'd like my car to sound mean as it looks 1st RWD car?
