Is this a real thing? I generally dont have issues starting in first. Unless you are tuned/modded for a ton more torque than i am.

I think the point here is not everyone to post what mileage they get its that stop and go traffic, especially short trips where your engine is cold for a good portion of the trip, render poor gad mileage. add an sc to that and yup you could get even worse. or, if you had the edelbrock, commuted 80 miles a day round trip, and lived in a flat state like florida or similar, you could potentially get pretty good avg mileage.

This^ Comparing mileage is like comparing insurance costs. There is no way to say "I get X so you should as well". It just turns into a duck measuring contest.

I'm on automatic, would I put it in snow mode to start in 2nd gear?

Yeah snow mode, if you're doing a lot of city driving you'll be in first a lot anyway.

As far as ducks go, that's pretty much average.

I really don't get why people are getting such BAD mileage when they go bigger wheels and FI.

When stock I would get as low as 6.3 lt 100km and could avg around 7 then much the same with 17x8's with 245 40 tyres and then put a Sprintex 210 with 69mm pulley and was totally surprised that it made next to no difference when driven normally and it would avg approx 7.6.

I then put headers on it and the mileage dropped to an avg of 8.6/9 but since then I've added a full rear diffuser and I'm back to an avg of 8 to 8.2 lt 100km.

Maybe there's other factors at play but even recently the wife did a road trip and it returned 7.2 so like I said I don't know why some are getting such crap mileage.

You're not driving it hard enough . On stock I was at about 9-10l/100k. Smashing twisties through Mt Dandenong and surroundings every day.

I can get the figures you posted if I drive super boringly on a freeway.
