Several years ago we had a "Hidden Features" thread that included all the little things they don't tell you about in the owners manual, like the gauge pass-through in the firewall, the cigarette lighter cap that exactly fits the sound tube to plug it, the hood prop that comes out so you can put it in a different hole higher up in the engine bay to stand the hood straight up, etc.
I don't recall ever seeing this charger pass-through one in that list. You may be the first to ever report it. Quote:

Just go on a nice joy ride every couple days. You can be quarantined inside your car. If you aren’t driving for weeks at a time just unplug battery. You’ll have to relearn LTFT but not a big deal. I still say just drive it.

I didn't even see the notch! I just leave the hood opened since it's locked in the garage anyways.

I too like the Schumacher but it has one strange feature. If you try to charge a dead or near dead it will think it is a short and will shut down. You half to jump the battery to get the charge started. The better units have a high frequency de-sulfating setting for older batteries.
