Looks like they're already testing the production car.

Seems like a great winter beater or 2nd car!
I like the looks quite a bit - reminds me of the old Toyota RSC concept from a decade ago!

Yeah I'd say so. Done right they're tons of fun and fairly practical.

Scion CH-R
Mazda CX-3
Nissan Juke Nismo R
Fiat 500x Abarth (coming soon)
Even the Porsche Macan isn't much larger. (15' vs 14' for the Fiat, Mazda and Nissan)

Toyota C-HR-Based Crossover Set For Geneva Debut

Quote:
Toyota has revealed its plans to offer a production version of the C-HR Concept and confirmed its debut for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

The vehicle will be built at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility, in Sakarya, Turkey, which will become the company's third plant to produce hybrid vehicles outside Japan, after the Burnaston, UK, where the Auris Hybrid and Auris Touring Sport Hybrid are assembled, and France, where the Yaris Hybrid is built.

Dr. Johan van Zyl, TME President and CEO, commented: "We are entering the C-segment crossover market with a fantastic product and with a hybrid powertrain from the start. This will provide our European operations with further perspectives for sustainable growth."

TMMT (Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey) currently manufactures the Corolla and Verso and its total capacity will increase from 150,000 to 280,000 vehicles anually. The future crossover's annual production will depend on demand, but officials are expecting to increase its numbers from 3,000 to 4,000 in the months leading to its assembly start, planned for the end of 2016.

In order to introduce the C-HR-based crossover, Toyota has invested around €350 million ($394 million equivalent) for the project at TMMT, in a cumulative investment that will reach €1.7 billion ($1.9 billion).

The new compact rossover will be based on the TNGA (Toyota new global architecture) and it will become the eighth model produced by Toyota in Europe, for the local market, along with the Avensis, Auris, Yaris, Aygo, Camry and Corolla. The automobile will have its global premiere on March 1, in Geneva.

Toyota C-HR spied during testing

Quote:
Toyota has been missing a player in the hotly contested compact crossover segment, but the latest spy footage shows they are working to fill that gap.

A camouflaged test mule was recently spotted in wet weather and is believed to be a prototype for the production C-HR Concept that was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this week. Much of the car is hidden under black covers, but the curvature of the hood's leading edge and the design of its alloy wheels appear to match those of the concept's.

Though the C-HR was well received for its sporty and futuristic shape, it will likely be toned down when it sees production. Also, not surprisingly, it grows a pair of rear doors.

The C-HR is also notable for being one of the first cars developed on the TNGA, or Toyota New Global Architecture. The shared modular platform will eventually underpin nearly all of the cars in Toyota's lineup. The C-HR is expected to be offered in both hybrid and traditional internal combustion setups.

A production version will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016.

Toyota C-HR crossover will be built in Turkey

Toyota C-HR crossover will be built in Turkey

Toyota has revealed the production version of its C-HR concept is going to be assembled in Turkey at the company’s factory in Sakarya.

The crossover will arrive in final form at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1 and will be offered from day one with a hybrid setup. Toyota is keeping the technical specifications shrouded in mystery, but most likely the hardware will be adapted from the latest Prius. Speaking of which, the production-ready C-HR (likely getting a different name) will ride on the same newly developed TNGA platform.

It’s going to be Toyota’s eighth model assembled in Europe, after the AYGO, Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Verso, Camry, and Avensis. The company mentions it will produce the crossover’s hybridized engine in the UK at the engine plant located in Deeside, Wales. Toyota also specifies the Turkey-built C-HR is going to be sold in the greater Europe region as well as in countries outside the old continent.

The two Toyota C-HR concepts featured a funky design and even though it will be toned down for production, we expect the crossover to be just as radical as the love/hate Nissan Juke. The original plan was to sell the crossover in United States as a Scion, but since Toyota is saying “scionara” to its youth-oriented brand, the model will be sold over there with the Toyota badge.

Debuting at the beginning of next month, Toyota’s new crossover will likely go on sale in the second half of the year and aside from the hybrid model there are also going to be some conventionally-powered variants.

Toyota Teases C-HR Compact SUV

Quote:
With just a week left until the Geneva Motor Show will open its gates for the media, Toyota has released a teaser sketch with the production version of the C-HR Concept.

Penned in order to keep interest high in the new compact crossover, the sketch doesn’t reveal anything on its shape just yet, except for the fact that it will carry over some of the study's lines.

According to the official press release, the new model is "matching a 5-door coupe design to an elevated SUV-style cabin" and is supposed to "show the new face of Toyota".

The plant in Sakarya, Turkey, will be in charge to build the new C-HR-based crossover, which will become the firm's third plant to produce hybrid vehicles outside Japan, after UK and France. The facility currently produces the Corolla and Verso and, in order to cope with the compact model, Toyota has invested around €350 million ($394 million equivalent).

2017 Toyota C-HR: Here It Is In All Its Glory

Quote:
Less than two years after Toyota released their C-HR Concept that was followed up by an updated version last September, the Nissan Juke-rival has materialized into a production model that will be officially revealed in Geneva.

The first official photos of the new 2017 Toyota C-HR, courtesy of our friends at Wheelsage, show that the Japanese carmaker tried to stay as close as realistically possible to the edgy concept without creating a claustrophobic vehicle for the passengers or limiting its practicality and usability.

It is based on Toyota’s new global architecture (TNGA) that’s also found under the latest Prius, and like the latter, it will feature a full hybrid petrol-electric powertrain, the technical details of which haven’t been released yet.

Toyota’s dramatic looking C-HR will join a growing pack of subcompact crossovers, including the Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3, Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V and Chevrolet Trax, and will be sold worldwide. It was initially planned to be offered as a Scion in North America, but after the company’s decision to kill the youth-orientated brand, it will be marketed as a Toyota, with sales to start in 2017.

Props to Toyota for moving far from boring designs. Some angles it's striking, others mundane, and down right ugly. This is going to be one of those cars that needs to be seen in person.

I think they did a good job of keeping it as close to the concept as possible.

I really like this. I could see this being more popular than the corolla eventually.

They gave it real rear windows. That's great. Toyota will sell a ton of them. If it's fun to drive as well, they will sell 2 tons of them.

The final version looks pretty awful. I thought the concept was pretty cool, but obviously very difficult to make it work practically speaking. Props to Toyota for trying though.
