Guy in the army took a jeep through some bulrushes once. A bunch got stuck up underneath. On the way back to base they burst into flames while going down the highway. Wasn't a good day for Private Ditmier!

Nah, I think I'll let him answer my question first since the crisis is essentially over.

Yeah but before the invention of plastic bags we had paper bags and they just didn't have the capacity to add aromatic fragrances when excited..intrigued to read a "back-in-the-day story".

It's almost dead center under the car, so I assume it's wrapped around some exhaust piping or something. I haven't had a chance to get under it and take it all off yet. Will probably try tonight after work. Don't like the idea of climbing under the car with it jacked up and on stands, but eh, I'm sure it'll be fine haha

Well, sorry to disappoint, but, the only thing that I ever picked up that started a fire was a bunch of dry corn stalks that got jammed up between the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe on an old ford ferguson tractor.

Yep, pulled them out with ma bare hands ...... got some burns ...... but, they weren't as bad as the thrashing my father would have given me for allowing the tractor to burn up ......

I yanked some of it off (what I could reach), but I'd have to lift the car to scrape the rest of it off, or just wait until it all melts off
lol something similar happened to me as well..I was driving on the highway and there was an empty gallon jug that I couldn't avoid so it got sandwiched between the undercarriage and ground for about 5 minutes until I was able to pull into a parking lot and take it out..the plastic smell lasted for a couple weeks

Just fill up at Shell stations with V-power, or anywhere you can get 0% Ethanol, My engine's never got the crickets running that stuff, the only time I've had them was a road trip through the USA where I got stuck filling up at stations that had ethanol mix gas, I think it's got something to do with that, the chirping went away after a couple tanks of 0% Ethanol went through the pump again.. That or it was just a coincidence
