Anyone have any hazing on their xenon headlights? I have some and it seems to be both on inside and outside. Perhaps water leaked inside when washing the car. Not sure. Will post pics.

edit: heres the pic.

No hazing as of yet, inside too?? The only weird thing I noticed is the silver paint on the bottem part of the shift knob is wearing off. Time to buy a new one. Problem is, OEM=same issue and aftermarkets are either reasonably priced and ricey junk or expensive but quality -classic example of you get what you pay for.

I got a slight bit of hazing and yellowing on mine. Used Plastx on em and they're shiny as new!

Did you apply the polish by hand or machine?

By hand/towel. Just swirled it on, let it sit for a minute or two, then went over with another towel for removal. I was told it was compound, so don't get it on your paint. (I don't remember seeing this on the bottle but better safe than sorry). I also only applied it to the outside. Once I got it off I realized there was little to no yellowing on the inside. You'll have to do it once every other month or so as these headlights seem prone to hazing/yellowing over time.

Meguiar's PlastX

I've got the same hazing. You can use polishing compound and a buffing wheel on a drill. Just make sure to move it around as not to "burn in" the plastic. Good luck!

It sucks because you are actually taking off small layers of clear coat off the plastic, which is used to protect them. Once you get into buffing off the haze, it will always come back eventually. Weird it hasn't happened to the tail lights yet.

Yeah. you can always put a coat of wax on there to give it some UV protection since you've taken (the deteriorating) clearcoat off.

Would a more permanent solution be to: take the lights off the car, polish them back to clear, hit them with a few thin coats of clear from a rattle can (or maybe a body shop can paint them with clear coat) then reinstall?

If a body shop does the painting how long could it possibly take to do and the cost? Seems pretty easy- you can even prep it for them by masking off all the non clear plastic (and openings).

Ended up trying plast-x and it worked like a charm. Headlights look brand new now. The hazing was NOT on the inside, just looked like it was thanks to the mirrors/chrome finish inside. Surprised how quickly this stuff works, with just a microfiber towel.

I topped them off with my normal wax, meguiars ultimate wax (synthetic) to hopefully keep it from returning too soon.

I'll have to try that, because I'd swear that my hazing looks to be on the inside!
