Well no subtitles - but the car, in-cabin in that first video, does not appear to sound any different from the old one. (The engine sounds in the other videos seem tampered with or wholly synthetic).

In Japanese, but you can kinda poke around a bit and look at pictures and such: http://toyota.jp/86/

Also, TRD ver: http://toyota.jp/86/customize/trd/

Gross. Rear bumper is ok.

I like the red intake manifold...it at least spices up the engine bay a little. Painting the valve covers on a Boxer wouldn't have the same immediate impact once you open the hood, now would it?

Also, some things about the black limited:
1) This Metallic Black was only available (at least in Japan) on the Black Limited, not on any regular AE86. Here in the U.S., the '86MY AE86's were offered with the 204 black metallic paint.
2) The Black Limited was a send off for the AE86 chassis, released just before the onset of the AE92.

On note #1: With the 10 Series, RS 1.0 and 2.0, and Series.HyperBlue, we've already been given this sort of treatment. The Series.HyperBlue actually replicates the Black Limited the most; having blue "BRZ" stitched into the seats (gold stitch "Apex" on the Black Limited), and Blue stitching (Gold again for the BL) on the steering wheel.

On note #2: We're not at the end of this chassis' production time, so right now wouldn't be the proper timing. However, I will agree...when that time does come, it would be almost too nerdy if Toyota did release a Black Limited for the 86. Would I buy it? The original AE86 Black Limited was, well, extremely limited (400 units) so if I had the chance to buy the current one, yeah, guess I would.

After looking at the 86, I made the decision to go and buy an FR-S new while I still could.

Interesting quote on the '17 from Tada here:
Quote:
“We overhauled everything – primarily as a result of technological feedback from the 86’s participation in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring – and repeatedly tested the vehicle on roads all over the world as we manufactured every single part,” said chief engineer Tetsuya Tada. “The new 86 has been perfected to such an extent that, from the moment the steering wheel is gripped and the vehicle accelerates away, every driver will be able to recognize its evolution.”
