Wait? The clutch release bearing goes bad? Impossible!!! "Wise" people on the forums say so! j/k

Makes me want to introduce someone to the backside of my hand... *SLAP!*

A TOB should go at the very least 100k. It is what it is. I've removed, rebuilt and reinstalled a transmission in the paddock so I'm not worried about do the work. The only silver lining is that doing the repair myself is all of an afternoon and $175.

Look at the bright side, At least you will now it's done right.

Right. With the new clutch assembly installed by the dealer it feels rough at initial engagement from standstill even after a few thousand miles. Hopefully this will "break in"...

Damn..

Started at 12:30.. It's 3:20. New TOB is on, clutch/PP look A-OK. Now I just have to put the beast back in and change the oil.. Don't think I'm gonna make it under the 5 hours mark!

Ermahgerd! Daddy's going into OT!

I'm going to order one after they restock just so I have one on hand.

Took me 9 hours even with the additional engine oil change. Too long but part of that was the 2 hours trying to get the transmission back into the engine. Finally realized that I should put a jack under the front of the engine to rotate the rear of the engine downward and after I did that voila!. Those were the sweat words she was waiting to hear.

The SKF bearing has a self-centering function unlike the original TOB so hopefully any centering inadequacies of the fork will be mitigated by the bearing itself.

The old bearing was crunchy, really crunchy. I had thought about putting this off for awhile and I'm glad I didn't. After spinning the old bearing by hand it was clear it was on the verge of complete failure or seizure. Second benefit of nipping in this in the bud is my pressure plate looks perfect.

Lubed all parts of the assembly on the force, bearing, shaft etc.. now the clutch feels better than it did when the car was brand new.. well at least it feels that way.

This part in the description made ordering it a no brainer (that, and it's an SKF part)

Additionally, a self-aligning design allows the clutch release bearings to control clutch conditions associated with the misalignment of drivetrain components.
