Stupid new girl greeter stuck the number sign on the roof without paper on the bottom and scratched the clear coat. Didnt see it until next morning.

Then whoever changed my oil left their handprints all up the outside of A-pillar and my steering wheel. Also didn't notice until next morning.

Okay got my car back late this afternoon.
They didn't flash it because they said my VIN number was out of range and get this my ECU had the latest firmware for it. They said they test drove the car and didn't experience any hard shifting. I can't go to another stealership because Servco is the only dealer here in Hawaii for Toyota. They don't belong to Toyota USA as well. They have their own entity here. Oh, F@!#@ Me! other than that the car seemed fine after the service.

Escalate this immediately, its totally dealer prerogative as to whether or not they are willing to flash your car when it's out of the VIN range, in fact mine was as well. Ask to report a dealership for not fixing the issue share them this thread if possible, there's no way your ECU could have the firmware as it is related to the TCM and the updated logic most likely came out much later than when your car was built.

Thanks FRSBRZGT86FAN. Servco Hawaii isn't part of Toyota USA. So I can't report to them. Servco Hawaii owns the Toyota Dealership here in Hawaii. They have their own entity they don't abide by Toyota USA. In short they can do whatever they want and they get away with it. I'll try calling the service writer again and tell him it's not the ECU as it's related to the TCM. I'm thinking when they test drove the car they didn't experience the hard shifting. Oddly enough by the time I drove back to town the hard shifting occurred. 36 miles round trip to the dealer.

I had better luck with Honda's in the past. LmaO! This will probably be the last time I buy any Toyota vehicle.

Try to share the videos that people have posted on here about the hard shifting. Sucks that they wont accommodate you. My VIN was out of the range but they happily flashed the TCM with very little questions asked.

Best of luck.

If you can, get on a test drive with them. I found the best way to reproduce it is to go over 80kmh and put on cruise control.

Just out of curiosity, how many people had their tcm reflashed and it did not help with this issue?

None, although someone was having severe torque converter slip completely unrelated to the issues we were describing

Just had TSB S-SB-0040-13 performed at the dealer for me and it seems this helped a lot. My shifts are buttery smooth! Hopefully it stays the same.

Awesome, and you have a 2013, that means all ATs can have better performance with that logic. If someone on here can get pay the money to get techstream professional diagnostic access we can get the rom file thats used to be flashed to the TCM so someone can figure out how to flash it using techstream.

I have a 2015 that doesn't fall under the designated affected VINs, so its a bit Harder to get the flash done. However, Monday I'm not leaving until I get it done.
