Eh, full face just opens up track / lechump stuff. Takes away the idea that I have to get "even more" stuff to do something.

STX Rules and Setup Questions

I use my helmet for kart racing too so full face was a must. Why not? I don't feel it restricts my visibility at all. I'm sure Pyrotect will have a sub $300 SA2015 helmet. I think I paid $289 for my SA2010 back in 2011. Still in good shape now with lots and lots of use.

guys for helmets check out these two spots...gotta sort through a lot of DOT helmets but you can find a handful of SNELL hemlets in the closeouts for dirt cheap. Got my Joe Rocket full face Snell 2010/DOT helmet for $53

Hello

Just picked up a BRZ a few months ago and just wanna say hi

new to this forum stuff but i guess this is a good familiar place to start

I have been Auto Crossing in the Cal Club region since about 2007 in various cars and classes. Didn't really get into to it until about 2011 then i started going more reguarly

I co-drove a CS (RTR) FR-S in 2013 for a season and did a few national events

2014 I took the dive and did a full season in a STS CRX including my first Nationals in Nebraska (picking up a Pro Solo round win in the process )

This year I was planning on running the BRZ i picked up but i got a ride in the White FR Sport BRZ so i will be running that nationally

So yeah i guess wanna say whats up and looking foward to kicking this year off racing

*full disclosure*: i am currently an employee at FR Sport in the sales/customer serivce dept but i do NOT represent their vendor account here

Hey everyone, I have been following and search in this thread for a while and it's finally time to do some upgrades to my brz. I am going to get RCE Tarmac 2's and RCE sways. As for camber adjustments what do you guys recommend? Which RLCA and top hat's are the best bang for their buck? Any other parts I should look into while doing this?

Why sways and coils at the same time? What are you trying to change? Perhaps a recommendation someone made? What else do you have done to the car? What tires/size?

If you don't have rear LCA's, that's probably worth doing to be sure you have adequate range to adjust camber - though you could be fine with camber bolts...

Camber, -2.5 to -3.2 up front, and about .5 less in the back. Give or take.

I was feeling body roll when racing last year. Is there a reason not to do them at the same time? I will hold off if so. The car is stock, I will be putting on enkei rpf1's 17x9 +35 with 255 z2 star specs.

Will camber bolts adjust far enough to make the -2.5 or -2?

Changing spring rates will also alter body roll. Unless you're tuning to a known spec on a car you really liked, I'd take it one change at a time - and definitely do coils first (in fact... that's what I'll be doing.) Not sure what your spring rates will be. From there, check tire temps. It's worth noting, body roll in and of itself isn't a problem... within reason. You can probably get rid of it with monster ways, but you won't like the way the car handles.

You may find some suspension bushings/inserts can help as well with some things.

-2.5 in front with just bolts? Not sure, to be honest, but I'm thinking not. Chasing the whole package with camber plates and all got me "for just a little more I can get" all the way into a different package than I would have thought when I started looking. can't wait, but I don't have much choice.

Ok, I will hold off on the sways until I get use to the coils. I'm coming from a 2010 wrx on JRZ coils with sways, it handled amazing!

I was on z1 stars last season and they were pretty warn, but the car would roll and push. I know that there are cars that can run coils with no sways and that's an ideal setup, but I know that the brz with coils and sways should handle really well. A 22mm front should hold it so it won't push and a 16 rear should let it rotate so it won't slide. But I will wait and feel it first.

Despite the similarities in suspension design, this car IS NOT an Impreza, swaybars can really ruin how this car handles (especially rear bars... the front bar can actually be beneficial even on a stock car, its what most guys do for C-stock along with camber bolts up front and thats it).

I've gone through 3 different rear swaybars in the last month trying to balance the car with my current setup, you need to be much more conservative with them than with Imprezas, primarily because of the AWD vs. RWD debate and how the differentials work. You want to keep the rear tires on the ground with this car so the diff does it thing, if you start lifting a tire due to a stiff rear swaybar you will get lots of snap oversteer and a general feeling of poor predictability while corning.

But yes, start with the coilovers and go from there. Tighten up how you want the front of the car to handle first with your adjustments, then the rear. If you want adjust-ability, go with conservative adjustable bars like the Perrin 19mm front and 16mm rear, or just a OEM WRX bar for the rear and keep your stock 14mm around just in case you don't like it.

Far as I know they're the bees knees. I'll get plates with the coils I'm buying so have to pass on the raceeng stuff.
