Mine as well and she is 80 years old! She still finds excuses to have me drive her places.

Nice wheels, nice car, people looking at the car in awe and wondering what the hell is it

Kids walking with their parents do love the car. They think its a spaceship.

The guy I work with (26yo) said "looks like a mid-life crisis car" when he saw it, I'm 36.

I'm 32, but I embrace the midlife crisis aspect... because it was. I clearly remember the drive where I hatched my plan to get the FR-S. By the time I made it into the next town, I'd figured out how to shuffle the fleet around in a way that would work for my wife. I traded my trusty 4Runner for a RAV4 for her, bought out my company car (Prius v) lease, sold the v 10 months later, took delivery of my new company car... my 2015 FR-S.

Cool story - good planning! Not getting the crisis part, nor the mid-life part.

To me, mid-life crises need to involve overweight, balding dudes in their 40's that are about to implode from the pressures of a nagging wife, horrific kids, too many bills, high-blood pressure and a boring-ass career number-crunching in a cubicle.

Balding: check (I keep it buzzed, though)
Number-crunching career: check (engineer in automotive... it is a lot of number crunching for feasibility studies and project planning)

Healthy, good wife, good kid, no bill stress, though.

I guess you get to a point in your life where you need a release from being responsible about everything all the time. Buying a relatively stupid car that makes me smile every day gives me that release.

All the guys at work give me a hard time because it's not a v8 or a "real" sports car. The only thing they understand is straight line speed.

Find a twisty road and make them wet their pants. There are several roads around here where the car's cornering ability frightens me at 7/10th.

Yea I agree, I've been pushing it a little around on/off ramps and it is simply amazing. I can't wait to take a trip to the hill country around san antonio/austin texas where there are some really good twisty roads.

I knew going in that I would get crap for buying it but I really don't care. It's exactly what I wanted in a car. Twice the gas mileage of my truck is nice too.
