Fenton,
can you take a picture of the battery box opened to see the 3 batteries?
Also, is the battery dying after a few runs? if so how many and how long is the wait before is good to go again?

I certainly can tomorrow. Honestly I drive my car very hard and I haven't been able to drain it. Wot 1 to 4th and they are still boosting. You let off for a minute and they are right back up to 28.5(max volts).

If you do a blast in 2nd and 3rd it takes maybe 15 to 20 seconds before they are at full.... Btw it still works when they are not at full. In fact I can't really tell a difference no matter what the voltage says.

I took about 8 people for a test drive today and never even came close to running out of boost. If you are holding it down doing 200+ I could see them dying maybe but it's just impossible to drain them in the city. Hth

Good idea I will have to try this because when you shift gears the motor does start slowing down. Fast shifts you don't really notice anything though

No way in hell you'd need a tune for this. The boost is way too low to require a tune, although you would probably gain more with a tune. About as much as you would gain from a stock NA tune.

So what happens when you quickly shut the throttle? Is there a brake employed to stop the turbo? Or does compressor surge happen?

I think you're dreaming of a different kind of surge than I am.

We will probably end up tuning it for safety more than anything else. All the maf is seeing is extra air, if the resolution of the maf is high enough things should be okay. Now the timing may be out at the higher maf levels at which point a tune can bring those down.

If the car isnt happy with the higher load and air coming in it has compensations built in but you dont want to always rely on compensations.

All the cars they have done up to now have not been tuned.
So this little 12V supercharger is going to add at least 30whp to a 2.0L boxer 4 cyl at 7400 with +50-60wtq below the curve? LOL!!!

What does a MAF read other than air volume? WTF are these "compensations" you refer to?

Okay, what different kind of closed throttle compressor surge are you talking about?

Tunes are not always about gaining power. Sometimes they are about keeping the motor together. Have you seen the stock rom? Do you know what the load caps are, do you know what that is and what happens when you exceed them? Do you know what the load axis on the fuel and timing maps cap out at in stock form.... I'm guess the answer is no to most of these questions based your assertion about not needing a tune.

In the end it may not need a tune to be safe, at the current boost level anyway, but i based on my experience with the stock rom, I think it will.

Pretty sure you are talking about compressor stalling which is VERY different from surging.
