Yeah. Only thing I hate about white cars are the rust blooms. It can come from a lot of things such as being near any type of rail roads or even from just braking(which clears off any rust spots on the rotor). It just sucks when the rust bloom is stuck really deep into the surface. A lot of hard work to clear it out.

All cars have this, except that you can clearly see them on a white color :p

Its better you see it because you can prevent it from becoming rust. Similarly, you may never see it on black cars and you wouldnt be able to prevent it until it becomes rust.

I have a TON of those on the back bumper, I will iron x the whole car.
Forgive me for the crappy pictures

Am i screwed because i got opticoat initially. Im assuming the opticoat is layered on top of the rail rust. Im guessing ill have to remove the opticoat.

opti-coat itself is not immune to rail dust, FYI. you could have easily gotten new ones post opti-coat.

My question is what do you expect the dealer to do on Friday?

Absolutely nothing now because they want to wait for a scion representative to come by to look at it. I waited to see if they would mention rail rust, but all they said was "How weird, the back bumper is plastic" I am not going to say anything and see what comes of it at first.

You had this done. There is no possible way this is the dealership's fault or that they have any responsibility to do anything for you.

I'm surprised they're even having someone come by to look at it. It doesn't hurt tho especially if they actually end up doing something at no cost to you but definitely look into CarPro IronX or TRIX.

I used to spot claybar my white car all the time to get rid of these 'rust spots' but you may end up with some light marring once you clay (which you can afford on a white car). But IronX gets it out with ease. I haven't tested it myself but IronX should not strip off opti-coat so if its rail dust sitting on your layer of opti-coat you should have no problem removing it and continuing on with regular maintenance?

My "rust spots" came off from a simple hand wash

Actually you are incorrect, if the car was delivered to me with the rail rust , then why is it my problem if they didn't remove all of it when they received the vehicle?

From what im hearing unless you use iron x or anything that's its equivalent , you are going to have these rust spots continue to show up. I did not ask the guy who did the opticoat job to do that.

So tell me why its my fault they didn't give my car a chemical bath to remove the rail rust.

Actually, it doesn't matter if they even give you a chemical bath. The rail rust will return either from near by train/rail tracks and/or your brakes after rain, and others
