DIY: APR Door Mirror Install
![]() ![]() ![]() First things first, always inspect the products to make sure you have everything and it is in good condition before you start any install. We did and they look awesome! I see a few people asking how to remove the mirror itself, so let’s start with that even though we started with the door card first. Just below the mirror, you should see a black plastic cover, and we will pop that off to access the 3 bolts holding the mirror to the door. Fold the mirror all the way back to gain access to the plastic cover pry point. See that little gap, yep, that is where we will start to pop the cover off. ![]() Once you get it cracked open, work your way down one side or the other. ![]() Once one side is fully popped off the clips, the other side should pop right out. ![]() Now with the mirror cover removed, lets jump back to the door card. ![]() To remove the door card, we will remove the 1 screw and 1 plastic clip that you can see here. ![]() ![]() ![]() Once these are out, you can pop the door card off. I started on the front inner portion as there is a place you can get your hand behind the door card. Use a bit of force to get the door card to pop off, but it should go without too much fuss. ![]() Once the door card is free from the clips, simply slide it up and you will now have access to the wiring harness and the door handle. ![]() The door handle comes off easily with 2 screws, just make sure to keep those along with the small black plastic retainer. ![]() ![]() Next, unplug the door's wiring harness. The driver side will have 2 plugs, the passenger side will have 1 plug. These gave a bit of resistance coming out, but just make sure you depress the release all the way and they should slide out. ![]() ![]() Passenger Side ![]() ![]() Set the door cards and hardware off to the side, and move onto the wiring harness for the side mirror motors. This harness plug should slide right out. ![]() ![]() Take note that up behind the insulation, there is a small white plastic “guide” that holds the harness in place, make sure you remove the harness from the guide to avoid frustration and broken parts. ![]() ![]() The mirror is ready to come off! Grab your 12mm socket and remove the 3 bolts that hold the mirror to the door. ![]() ![]() With the mirror free, have a buddy help you fish the harness plug up through the door frame. The passenger side came out with ease, where our driver side took a bit more patience, but eventually came out without a problem. ![]() ![]() I wanted to re-use the rubber mirror grommet, so I had to cut a small portion of the rubber to get the harness plug through it. I re-installed the grommet on the new mirrors and they fit great. ![]() ![]() I like to pre-assemble the APR mirrors before they go on the car, but you do not have to, as it can be done later. Use the included hardware to secure the new APR mirror to the door, making sure the grommet and mirror are fully seated and lined up with the door. ![]() ![]() Have your buddy help you adjust the mirrors, keeping all of the adjustment points finger tight, but loose enough to move freely. ![]() Once the desired position is found, tighten down the adjustments on the mirror and check for any movement or free play. The mirror should be secure with no movement. Double check the mirror is in the correct position for yourself and adjust as needed. This is not something you really want to be doing while driving ![]() Time to put that door card back on! Connect the door/window wire harnesses. ![]() Screw the door handle back onto the door card using the 2 screws and the plastic retainer. ![]() Slide the door card back on, make sure it is in the correct location and pop it back into place. ![]() Screw in the single screw and the plastic clip. ![]() ![]() You are all done! Well.. not quite, repeat the same process for the other side, and enjoy these beautiful, lightweight mirrors! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For more info on APR Mirrors click the images below: ![]() ![]() Thanks, Rick Last edited by RallySport Direct; 04-12-2013 at 01:27 PM. |

Hmm... Personally I like the stock side view mirrors more, though these actually look better than I thought but If I saw more pictures of the final install...

Man, I never like removing the door panel. It just doesn't go back on as tight as the first time.
